This thread is to discuss whether a movie is worth seeing - without giving away the ending! :-)

Of those out now:
Bedtime Stories - see it if you like light hearted comedy
Curious Case of Benjamin Button - see it if you don't mind slow but interesting
Yes Man - see it if you like silliness
Bolt - see it
Four Christmases - mixed, could be saved for rent/cable
Seven Pounds - see it but also slow
Day the Earth Stood Still - mixed but see it if you like Keanu

Rachel Getting Married- Overrated, wait for rental. Some scenes are interminably long.

Beckie, I was just going to say don't take your man to see it, unless you're in a solid relationship! Could be some awkward moments there otherwise.

Great girl flick, not a date movie.

The Wrestler: A tad overrated IMO. My husband, sister and nephew all liked it.

LOL And I will give a third opinion on He' Just not Into You - I HATED it from beginning to end, did Justin Long's character HAVE to explain the obvious like we (the audience) were idiots? DH on the other hand thought it was.... OK.

Hotel for Dogs: I took my 12-year-old niece to see it over the weekend. It has some really great laughs in it. Yes it's predictable as can be, but it's sweet and funny. I'd recommend it for family viewing.

The International: not what i thought it was going to be, but it was still pretty good. maybe i am just around too much cussing, but didn't think that the movie deserved a r rating. some good action scenes. i would see it at matinee if you want to see if in theaters. don't get me wrong, it was a good movie, just not what i expected...

Scarlett Johanssen's boobs in He's Just Not That Into You looked PHENOMENAL. Shame about her hair in the movie, but the rest was great. Her almost nude scenes were a *reward* for the men who were dragged o the movie with their girlfriends.

Men: those scenes alone are worth sitting through the movie for.

RFLMAO! Now that's the kind of detailed insight you just won't get with a traditional review.

GAL, agree about Hotel for Dogs. It is exactly as advertised and kids should love it (and I enjoyed it too).

The International - reasonable story but very slow and I was looking at my watch after an hour. Some people even walked out.

Confessions of a Shopaholic: Even though it is somewhat predictable the movie does make you laugh out loud. Good supporting cast. Light, girl flick.

The Visitor. We got it from Netflix and watched it last night. Very good movie, excellent acting by Richard Jenkins.

Babyruth, I agree. I liked The Visitor, probably even more, a few days after watching it. It made you think.

I don't know if anyone else watches Hindi Cinema, but there are some really good movies out there. Not talking about Slumdog, because that's, actually, not Hindi. Anyway, here's a few of my favorites:

Swades...This is my all-time favorite movie in any language! A friend of mine didn't like it and didn't get it. TheKid and her bf liked it, a lot.

Kal Ho Na Ho...Laughter with tears and the dance numbers rock! The movie takes place in NY City.

Jab We Met...Shahid Kapoor is adorable! Excellent songs and a cute story about a girl, two guys, a train, bus, car and some, absolutely, stunning scenery of India.

Om Shanti Om...A salute to Bollywood of yesteryear and today. One dance number features 31 of Bollywoods biggest names. Can't imagine that happening in Hollywood.

With Hindi Cinema, almost all stories are a bit over-the-top and most movies are quite a bit longer than ours. I began watching them several years ago and I love them. I own a huge collection of them.

I agree, The Visitor was a good movie. Richard Jenkins is nominated for Best Actor for this role.
