I just heard that the Oscar's are going to be on YouTube this year. Does this mean I have to subscribe to YouTube to watch them? Not happening.

I found out more, Grooch. Once it moves to youtube, it will be free, like regular Youtube videos. You won't have to subscribe to Youtube tv.

I'm so happy to see Amy Madigan win for a horror movie! She was in one of my favorite horror series some years back called Carnivale.

The designer presenting with Anne hathaway,Anna Wintour, looks so much like the actress Lee Grant that I had to rewind and hear them introduced again. I looked up Lee Grant and she just turned 100 years old, so that would have been something if that was her. LOL

Just because of all the buzz, I really thought Sinners was going to win best picture. I guess not.

It's funny, before I was hearing all the buzz about Sinners, the past 2 weeks, last month, all I heard was buzz about how Hamnet was going to win everything. I guess not, too. And I looked online last night, about the movie that won a lot of Oscars, the one with Sean Penn, it got a lot of bad reviews. Makes no sense to me.

I hadn’t seen any of the movies nominated this year, as they weren’t my cup of tea. Usually, I have seen one or 2. But, watched the Oscars anyway. I might’ve gone to see Hamnet, but it wasn’t in theatres near me.

The only movies from the nominee list I saw was K-POP Demon Hunters and the cartoon short Evergreen. I don't want to see R rated violence.

Was the K Pop movie any good? I'm thinking of watching it if it's good.

The music advances the plot which actually tackles a serious issue.

I saw all 10 best pic nominees and a couple of others in the animation, international, and documentary categories. Hamnet is not to be missed. Honestly, it is a heartbreaking and moving performance. Jessie Buckley is a powerhouse. Frankenstein is a visual delight so I was glad to see Guillermo del Torro's film win in those categories. The film didn't always work for me, but Guillermo always tries to bring new visuals to the screen and I appreciate that. Secret Agent - I liked it, but didn't love it. The star was in Narcos and I've been a fan of his since then, so it has been nice to see him at all the awards shows. F1 is a fun popcorn movie -- impressive racing on the big screen. Bagonia is just wild fun! Jesse Plemmens and Emma Stone are always interesting. Marty Supreme -- I appreciated the period piece and it's well done, but really an unlikable character. Train Dreams is like a beautiful and sad visual poem. One Battle After Another -- I liked it very much. Paul Thomas Anderson is an interesting filmmaker to me and the chase scene was so visually impactful in the theater. It won't play the same at home. Sinners is different, original. Not really my kind of movie but I can appreciate it. Sentimental Value -- yuck -- my least favorite by a mile. Performances were fine, it's the "story" that turned me off. Other Categories: It was Just an Accident - surprisingly amusing and yet still thought provoking. If I had Legs... -- no wonder this woman is losing it! The Alabama Solution -- very good and eye opening The Perfect Neighbor -- also very good and unique Blue Moon -- I love, love, love Ethan Hawk. Very talky film, but if you love Ethan it's worth seeing.

Did you see The Lowdown? His recent series? Also, he did a documentary that I'm not sure has been released anywhere about Merle Haggard (which I enjoyed way more than I thought I would). It's been so fun to see Ethan out doing interviews. He does love to TALK! I believe he is in every scene in Blue Moon. I had the immense thrill of standing right by him at Telluride. He's short. I'm sorry, but he's... average height. lol. And I had to climb over Linklater to get to an open seat! So fun.

You lucky duck! I only saw the first ep Lowdown because I got so busy with moving that I couldn't watch most of my shows for awhile. I'll get to it I saw him talking about the documentary. He really is great on talk shows. I know you're not thrilled with horror movies, but one of my fav Ethan movies is "Sinister". I wasn't thrilled with the Black Phone movies because his face was unrecognizable, and part of the joy of Ethan is looking at him LOL

Brenda, thanks for the info on the Merle Haggard documentary. My mother loved him. We got to see him in concert just before he passed. He was still good. I'm gonna find it and watch it.

Good to know Naja! My kids likes scary movies, so maybe when she's home from school we can watch it. I enjoyed The Lowdown quite a lot. And it's getting a season 2! Grooch, The documentary is called "Highway 99 - A double Album". Ethan is in it and narrates. It was really good. I went to it mostly to see Ethan in person, with the notion of slipping out at intermission. Well, it was so good I had to stay to see the second part and was glad I did.

I usually avoid horror movies but sinners was not your usual horror movie even though you have it in the plot. I waited a LONG time for it finally to show the “horror” part and it was done in such a classy fashion. The music, the scenery (yay for those oscars), the storyline of race and the south, it just was beautiful to watch - and Michael B Jordan totally deserved the win.

I just watched the movie Rose Byrne was nominated for "If I Had Legs, I'd Kick You" and while I enjoyed it a lot, I sure don't understand it. I'm going to have to go look up an explanation online.
