Yes, it's her singing the season 7 theme, although I didn't realise until I just looked it up after you said. To be honest I don't like the version as much as the original. Poor Sinead. She's made quite an impact over the years. RIP.

I've seen a lot of talk of Sinead singing the opening this season on both Twitter and Tumblr. TBH, most didn't like her version as much as the previous ones, but almost unanimously people admired HER as a singer. Bear McCreary (who has done the music since day one for OL) posted a lovely tribute to her. He also said he was even more sad b/c they had been working on new songs together. Since this season is split, I'd bet even money they were doing a different version of the "Skye Song" for 7B whenever it airs. I wonder if they'll keep the version we have now for the entire season. So sad to lose a woman who fought so hard for humanity.

I just heard about the split season. So disappointed, but better than not having one. And there's no new episode next week. First half finale is August 11. No word when second half of season 7 will air. Probably not till 2024.

They said 2024 for 7B when the new season started, but nothing more specific than that. It IS finished, per Maril, so the strike won't hold it up. It will just hold up filming season 8.

Guess that was a pretty good stopping place. Enjoyed the finale. Had some LOL moments.

Jimmer - They accompany Simon Fraser's body back to Scotland, so it's a gorgeous ship scene with them seeing bonnie Scotland again. Made me cry! *I get to go back in Oct. and flying in over Scotland always makes me tear up, too!)

I was a bit disappointed with this season. I binge-watched S1-6 just beforehand, so all that intensity might have influenced me, but I thought this season was all story, not much feeling.

Official teaser for the last eight episodes of S7 (starting November), spoilerish, I suppose: https://tvline.com/news/outlander-season-7-b-release-date-trailer-starz-1235191173/

They sure do drag it out! And we thought All My Children was really bad about dragging stories out years ago!

I sure hope Remmy is in the same time as Roger! I know the woman whose door Roger knocked on was the one they thought was a witch, but we also saw clips of her in the “present” last season. Can anyone remind me what she did there? There was some kind of intrigue but I don’t know what.

Geillis Duncan is the one married to the Fiscal, kills him, and is pregnant with Dougal's child in Season 1. She was taken to the witch trial with Claire. At the witch trial she revealed to Claire, she was from 1968. In S2, she was in the present with them - trying to raise support for Scottish independence. She had written notebooks of research about stone travel and thought it required a blood sacrifice. Claire, Bree and Roger went chasing after her in the final ep of S2 but just missed her. She had burnt her husband alive in front of the stones and then the three of them saw her disappear into the stones. Then in S3, Claire and Jamie run into her in Jamaica where she has kidnapped Ian, was trying to find the jewels and a "200-year-old baby" because of the Fraser Prophecy. By the end of S3, she's in a Cave, attempting to return to the present to kidnap Bree, and Claire cuts her head off. Yeah - bit of a wild ride with Geillis!

Thank you so much! It was the Scottish Independence part I couldn’t remember, but looks like the intrigue part was just her research. I had in my mind she had nefarious plans in the past, but I guess it was all to do with the time travel and getting back.

Teachmichigan is the one to ask for any questions about Outlander! Geillis was entertaining (and scary).

Her "nefarious" plans all revolved around helping Bonnie Prince Charlie become King, despite what history had indicated. When that didn't go as planned, she set her eyes on Bree because of the Fraser Prophecy - about the last of the Fraser line being king. It pretty much boils down to her desire for power via Scotland's leader.

Thanks, Teach. This week's episode... interesting twist about Roger's father. Also (kind of unrelated) I didn't realise early military "dogtags" were made of felt or leather like that. I think that's what they were showing, some kind of non-metal.

Saw a clip on FB where Sam and the man who plays his son were talking about how they had a true "Star Wars" moment. "I am your father." lol.

Last night's show was great,as always. Ian's wedding was very strange. Is that really how a Quaker marriage is held?

Apparently it's not far off, here's what happens at a current Quaker wedding:
quote:It all starts at the Quaker meeting house, where guests will arrive and take a seat in a circle. The meeting for worship will begin as people settle in to the stillness and quiet. In time, the couple will arrive. There is no best man, no bridal party, and the couple arrive, walk in and sit down together. The couple, when they are ready will stand, and say their vows in turn, asking for divine assistance in promising to be a loving and faithful spouse. For Quakers, marriage is a commitment made between two people and God, and the vows reflect this aspect of our faith. After that, a Quaker appointed as the registering officer for the meeting will read the Quaker marriage certificate aloud. The couple and a witness will sign it then, and the meeting for worship will continue. From this point, any person present, whether a Quaker or not, may speak to share words of support or encouragement for the couple. Speaking in a meeting for worship is known as ministry, and each contribution is given space for others to reflect upon what is said, so people don't all speak at once. When the meeting for worship comes to a close, everyone present signs the big Quaker marriage certificate – even little children who can hardly write can make their own mark. Many people say that this simple signing ceremony is one of their favourite parts of Quaker weddings.
https://www.quaker.org.uk/blog/what-to-expect-from-a-quaker-wedding The difference for Rachel is she and her brother have been kicked out of regular Quaker meetings, because her brother chose to be a war medic.

I am a bit perturbed about how long it's taking Jamie to decide to go see if he can find Lord John.

As much as I like him, Jamie can be frustrating at times. I haven’t seen the show yet but I liked the wedding in the book. They’re such a great couple.
