They have a biological sex, but if or what their dominant gender is depends on the person.

Thank you Kitt.

I thought the kid's voice was too deep to be a girl's.

Jeopardy introduced a non-binary player.

Well, they are obviously biologically a boy (adams apples don't lie), so I think the writers should have done it the other way to be more clear and realistic (boy transitioning to girl). Some transgender people choose to remain in their biological bodies, even while identifying as the opposite sex. Others may have hormone therapy and/or reassignment surgery. I understand that it's extremely ill mannered to ask anyone what's in their pants, so you just have to accept what they feel comfortable sharing with you and be careful to use their requested pronouns.

My son's little friend (actually he's in his 20s now, but very physically tiny) came out as a transgender boy in his late teens. It took me a while to get used to calling him "he/him" after so many years knowing him as "she/her." But I was proud of the way my son (who was probably 15 or 16 at the time) just took it all in stride. No big deal to him. His friend is still just his friend.

I learned a lot about transgender people watching the show "I Am Cait," about Bruce Jenner transitioning to Caitlyn. I really can't stand Caitlyn, but the friends they brought in to educate her on the trans world were fascinating. I read one of their books. So interesting!

Baby a few years back there was a docu series called Lost In Transition. It follows four married couples in which the husband has recently revealed to his wife that he has grappled with his gender identity for years. I found it very interesting. I think you can watch it on TLC on demand and probably on prime video.

Caitlyn did have some informative people on her show.

Lost in Transition was also good.

And I am Jazz.. Jazz Jennings and her family are quite active in Florida. Jazz is at Harvard.

And this new character is interesting.

We all have Adam’s apples…girls can have larger Adam’s apples- and deeper voices-depending on testosterone levels in the fetus…along with transgender males who get more testosterone by choice. I believe Ash Spencer was born female (earlier roles went by Audrey Spencer)

I thought the same, they presented as female to male transition or non binary to me.

I knew it all along! Wasn't Anna MIA the night that Peter died? And then we saw her putting something in the garbage, IIRC. Also she was passed out when Eddie stopped by the next afternoon, like she'd been up all night. She claimed she was hungover, but I thought she seemed suspicious. I'm pretty sure Anna's the murderer. Poor Eddie.

Unless...they are trying to trick us. I can think of several scenarios where that girl could be lying... and trying to implicate Anna.

Could be, but I doubt it. I think she was definitely there, but she may have left before he was killed, so it's not 100% that Anna is the killer. Wouldn't blame her though.

Not 100% but... not looking good.

Yes, Anna used Eddie as her alibi but she was not with him. She told him she was drunk and ashamed.

They showed her taking something to the trash, which could have been bottles from her binge.. or murder weapons.. and

yes the girl could be lying or not..

If a person starts taking hormones (or blocking male hormones) early enough, then they don't develop certain characteristics. Jazz Jennings, for instance, never developed the Adam's apple so didn't need to have it shaved. She also had some problems with bottom surgery because her early male hormone blockers meant she had less penis to work with.

No!!! Not Colin!!!!

Sea, I may be wrong, but doesn't hormone therapy require parental permission for a minor? Jazz was fortunate her parents were accepting of her, but Moddox's parents wouldn't go for that.

Our little trans friend's parents divorced over their child's transition. Her dad was dead set against it, while her mom was in favor of letting their child make the decision. She is now a "he." I don't ask a lot of questions, but I know he's been through counseling and hormone therapy, cause he has a beard now. We are going to a party next weekend for his successful graduation from college. He's one of my son's best friends. (By "successful" I mean magna cum laude and lots of honors and awards.)

Absolutely. Jazz has parents who supported and accepted her as her not him at a young age. They worked with specialists about when to block male hormones.

Most of the friends she made were not allowed to have that situation, either in terms of acceptance, or just in terms of hormone use or blocks.

And your friend's parents.. that is not uncommon, I gather, that parents will not agree.

Nice that he has done so well in college too.

And

COLIN is innocent!!!

I'm gonna have to put that Jazz show on my list of shows to watch. It sounds like I would love it. I absolutely loved some of Caitlyn's friends she had on her show. Read a couple of books. One was a college professor (man) who had always believed he was a woman. He was married with two children. His wife was not happy about it when he told her, but she stuck by him/her during their transition. They are still married (she says she never imagined she'd one day be married to a woman) and the best of friends. At some point when you've been married a long time, it becomes about being really good friends with your spouse. She loves the person her spouse is inside still. It's an amazing story.

Mods: can you fix that link so it's not so big? Thanks!

Babyjax, “Adams apples don’t lie” ? As the mother of a trans son, I know there are a whole lot of trans people who would be offended by that phrase. (Although my trans son might like it as he now has one!!)
At any rate, wouldn’t you know it? I gave up on this show and then it gets interesting. I’ll have to put up with the Maggie/Gary scenes because I am super curious to see how they handle a trans character. Especially because I have (a shock to me) entered this world about 3 years ago when my child (in 7th grade) shared his true self with us. Confusing and surprising are two words I was I initially. But we have come a long way baby!

Julieboo, I have always loved you, as you probably know, and I have been with you for all the years when you were trying to adopt and then succeeded. I can think of no better person than you to raise this second son after you did splendidly with your first son.

Ack!!!! Mods!! Help! Probably wrong thread for this. Maybe copy or move to Julieboo's member folder?

Both of your children were "outside parameters", and are going to grow up to have whole lives because of you, because of your love. Feel free to hit both of them over the head with these insights from an imaginary friend on the internet from time to time. I am not wrong, nor are you.

You turned out to be a mother for the ages, Julieboo, and I am extremely proud of you.

I’m only as far as the first episode with Maddox. Looking forward to seeing how it plays out. My guess is the actor has already been taking T because his voice is so low.
