Premiered on AMC tonight.

I am so sad that Anne Rice didn't get to see this adaptation come to fruition because it was shockingly good.

I am seduced.

It was so good! I love the blond actor.

It's definitely not for the squeamish. haha

Is anyone still watching? For some reason I get a kick out of bratty characters that they somehow manage to make loveable. Definitely the best interpretation of the "The Brat Prince" I've seen.

I'm interested in who Rashid is. He doesn't appear to be a vampire, yet he's had the same form for 35ish years. He's corporeal with blood, so not a spirit.

Every time I try and remember something from the books I can't believe Anne Rice has gone and we won't hear any more of their stories.

I'm still watching. I didn't read the books or see the original movie though. Had same thoughts about Rashid.

Oh yes, I'm still watching. Lestat has to be the sexiest vampire I've ever seen. I love his voice.

Hmmm, I wasn't even paying attention to Rashid. I'll have to make a point of it.

Both their voices are hypnotic. Such excellent casting.

I love how they make them kind of maximum human in their emotions, all the jealousy and stubbornness but also understanding of the reality of their situations. So much humanity in non-humans.

I am enjoying Interview With a Vampire. From casting, to costumes, scenery and intrigue.

I read Ann Rice's book many years ago, it was excellent! I've also seen the movie with Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.

The Mayfair Witches starts in AMC at 9pm tomorrow.

It's set in the same universe as Interview with the Vampire, and if they follow the books, some of the characters will eventually cross over.

I'm hoping it's good!

There was a first look last night of the new season. It's going to be so good!

But season 2 isn't going to be here until May 12.

I'll be in England then... not sure where it will be shown. A lot of the Syfy shows aren't starting until May unfortunately.

I'm in the middle of the first ep of season 2, and I just had to stop and find out why they re-cast Claudia. I'm not a fan of the Avatar movies, but I guess the first actress who played Claudia was in the second Avatar movie, and now she's going to be in the next one, and there was a scheduling conflict. So she chose Avatar over this show.

I'm also still watching. I actually like Mayflower Witches even better than Interview with a Vampire. They are both great series

I found S1 Claudia to be irrationally destructive and she annoyed me (which I know is mostly the writing’s fault, not the actress’s) so I hope they’ve toned her down this season.

I tried to find it (S2) here (UK) and no luck. I guess I’m in for a wait. Hope it’s as good as last season.

My heart felt so sad with the twist in the finale!

I won't go further than that until more people have watched.

I sat and watched all of 2nd season yesterday. Loved every second of it.

It really felt like the end of the series. Didn't this season end pretty much like the book did? I think in the book, it ended just before something happened....but the series ended shortly after that something happened, so it ended with the same general circumstances in both.

After the final scene they put up an Anne Rice quote, possibly from her IWTV book. The quote was:

"And that's the end of it, and there's nothing else."

I wonder if they plan to keep going with a follow up of a season 2 (and/or 3) for the second book in the series when Le Stat decides to build a musical career. Of course he'd need a lot of practice and he'd have to fire Siri. :-)

---

It was amusing to me that I kept thinking of Anne Rice through the whole thing. That's related to the fact that I live a block and a half from what used to be Anne Rice's condo before she left SF and moved to New Orleans. Every time I pass by that condo I think of her....even though I never knew when (or even if) she was actually living there.

Oh I do hope they make a season 3!

I have watched eps 1-3 so far of season 2, and episodes two and three were just fantastic. Work of art type good, amazing casting, clever dialogue, delightful relationship quibbles. And how beautiful are these people?!?! Where did they find them?!?!

I like how they slot in characters from the books, even if they don't give them long stories, like in Ep3 Lestat (in the 1500s I think) had made a friend with a boy called Nicky, who was later turned into a Vampire and wasn't handling it well, as he was turned very young. Something very similar happened in the second book, The Vampire Lestat, although it was a much longer story. I feel like it's some sort of Star Trek easter egg!

I am looking forward to that, although these shows always seem to take so long to materialise.

I watched episode 5 last night and I am stunned by the quality of the writing. That's the one where Daniel and Louis find out what happened during the first interview. Mesmerising.

I really love the aftershows they have on this and other series like Walking Dead, The Last of Us etc. I love seeing the inner workings and technical stuff, plus the delving in to the thinking and motivation of the characters. It adds so much

I used to watch after shows and "The Making Of" type shows, but I've found if it's an emotional show they take me too much out of the bubble I like to be in, if you know what I mean. I want to think of Lestat or Louis as characters, not as actors playing characters. Sometimes I watch them after a season ends, if I know I can forget it before the next season (speaking of which, see below for a trailer).

Well I finished this season and loved it. Such a clever relationship between Louis and Armand, with Armand basically gaslighting him for 80 years, and him not seeing it, even though you can tell he knows something is up, even if not what it is. It's like he had a low level fear of delving deeper as he didn't know what he'd find.

Not that being with Lestat would have been any better for him.

I've forgotten a lot of the books, but I think they also had Armand kind of trying to just pretend things didn't happen, or whitewash them, which drove Louis away, but not so dramatically as it happened in this season.

I'm wondering whether to read the books again but I know they will take me years, as I don't read as much as I used to. And there are a LOT of books that this season has drawn from.

Here's a teaser for Season 3, where Lestat becomes a rock star.

That's excellent. Mayfair Witches is nowhere near as good, but as it's in the same universe I'm watching it, S2 of that is before Interview WTV, starting Jan 5th.

Once I'd watched S2 (of Interview WTV) I was going to read the books in order again, but there has been a waitlist on them ever since! I have the books themselves (somewhere in my storage locker) but I switched to ebooks during covid and now can't face a paper one, lol.
