I just watched The Good Place. It was okay, different. I'll probably give it another go.

I really enjoyed "Kevin can Wait". It's like I have my Doug Heffernan back. I think if someone loved King of Queens like I did, they are going to enjoy Kevin can Wait, too.

Can't wait to see it.i always thought he deserved at least an Emmy nom for comedy. My husband **is** Doug Heffernan. My husband is out of town until tomorrow so I'm waiting to watch it with him.

Lakecat, remember how Kevin James' real life brother played his cousin Danny on KoQ? On this new show he actually plays his brother. So it's like both Doug and Danny are back, but now they are Kevin and Kyle.

Like Patton Oswalt. I'm looking forward to Kevin Can Wait, have it all recorded. Secrets and Lies looks good! I have 21 shows set to record today, perhaps I have a problem.

Did anyone watch Designated Survivor last night? I recorded it and I'm trying to get feedback to see if it is worth watching this weekend.

Yeah, Designated Survivor surely deserves a thread of its own on these boards. I worry though that it has a semblance to Quantico, the bomb and the conspiracy theory. The fact that we see a General so ready to start a war against the usual suspect and the doubts already forming in the minds of the FBI specialist leaves the door wide open to the conspiracy theory. But this idea of a 'Designated Survivor' is new to me, I had no idea that this was actually the current emergency solution in case the US President and all his 'detail' got wiped out. It is also scary to consider the possibility of such a thing occurring when we watch the State of the Union address by the President in that building. Could this really happen? That's scary.

I also watched Lethal Weapon, not as great as the original movie, and the actors seem new faces to me, don't know them well, but it has a good dose of good humour and the quickness of their thinking and action is refreshing. I'll give it another try with the second episode, but like Bull and other new shows I may drop it after a while if they don't manage to keep my interest high. Other shows in their second season, like Blindspot and Lucifer are too good and will watch with gusto. I will give a try to 'This is Us' and 'Pitch' and 'Notorius', then 'Conviction' and 'Timeless'. Lots of new shows and I'll see who stays and who goes on my watch list.

It was nice to see Archie on the Blindspot. I'm sure there is a thread for Blindspot, but I didn't see it. Sorry. I also must have missed the season ending because I had no idea what was going on.

Spunky, back when I used to watch the SOTU, the news anchors would always announce which member of the cabinet was the "designated survivor."

Well I caught the show Good Place (i.e. a sort of heaven run by and incompetent angle)I nominate for first show cancelled. Although the mean part of me had to laugh at the designated driver scenes.

West Wing long ago had an episode where the President was heading off for the SOTU. The President gave the guy a list of advice.... I wish I remembered it all. Part of it was "the guy you REALLY trust is your chief of staff" and "listen to the generals"

We liked Designated Survivor and will at least for now keep it on our DVR record/watch list. Having lived and worked in the Federal government in DC for 16 years (1987 - 2003) it's always interesting to see how television/movies handle or portray the internal workings. Will have to say part of the show that dealt with the initial confusion struck a chord with us as we lived that after the Pentagon attack. Interesting that on the show personal cell phones still worked whereas on 9/11 they "pulled the plug" and it was several hours before we got landline and cell phone service back.

Mack, did you know or were you aware of Mark Everson or his then-wife Nanette while you were in DC? He was not in DC for much of the '90s though. He and wife were in Chicago in the earlier part of the '90s. I was Nanette's secretary for a year. (She was, ah, "difficult".) While in DC, he also worked at the OMB. Interesting story if anyone wants to read.

No, I'm not familiar with or knew Mark Everson. With a few hundred thousand government employees in the area you pretty much knew just the people you worked with and your neighbors. Of course there your neighbors were an interesting mix. On my small cul de sac of ten or so houses we had FBI, CIA, Secret Service, DoD, Congress support staff, and professional football players.

Anyone else watch the premier of Notorious last night? I really enjoyed it and will be tuning in again next week. Hope it holds up.

Yes, I watched Notorious and it may have potential for developing stories and everyone loves to see how the rich and famous get in trouble with the law or how they get away with it. The two main characters seem to have chemistry and may end up together by the end of the show.

I also watched "Pitch", but if it's always limited to baseball playing and how she wins or loses, may get stale in the end. A lot of machismo and sexism... Wow!

I liked Pitch. Wasn't prepared for that ending! I love Mark Paul Gosselaar so it was a win for me.

We really liked Pitch. I'll be sticking with it. The Exorcist premieres Tonight, Friday, on FOX. From what I understand, it takes place in present day and does acknowledge the events of the movie from over 40 years ago. http://www.fox.com/the-exorcist
