What happened to Halloween shows and movies? We're having a Halloween party for the kids this year, sis and bil have one the same night so younger two nieces will be coming to stay with me (oldest is co-hosting the party with Caleb and Kota.) Figured I'd dvr some shows for the younger two to watch since they're a bit too young to party with teenagers, lol, and have found hardly anything. Even the Halloweentown movies (which I have been dvr'ing for them) are only airing once this month. Year or two ago those movies were on several times each!

Here's a nice list of Halloween themed programming for throughout the month. You have to do a bit of scrolling to get to the current date. http://www.channelguidemagblog.com/index.php/ 2013/09/29/halloween-tv-programming-2013/

My daughter's favorite Halloween movie when she was young was The Worst Witch. It has the fabulous Tim Curry in it. I should see if that's on anywhere.

We usually watch the Nightmare Before Christmas -- so it has a lot of Christmas, it also has some Halloween.

We went to Disneyland a few years ago at Halloween time. It was decorated so cool and it had a lot of the Nightmare Before Christmas. The Haunted Mansion was changed to include a lot of the characters.

I love the Haunted Mansion with the Nightmare before Christmas overlay. Have been dying to get back to Disneyland and see it again.

You are so welcome, Cablejockey. Here are the things they have listed for tonight: Return to Halloweentown – Oct. 17 at 8:30pm and Oct. 19 at 6:20pm on Disney Channel. Mysteries at the Museum Halloween Special – Oct. 17 at 9pm on Travel Channel. Host Don Wildman investigates a cracked funerary plaque that tells of one man’s grotesque attempt to bring his love back from the dead, a crudely made whip that was used in a blood-chilling voodoo practice and an antique mirror that some say is a portal to the world of the dead. MythBusters Zombie Special – Oct. 17 at 10pm on Discovery Channel. Michael Rooker of The Walking Dead joins the team to test zombie myths. Is an axe or a gun more effective when you’re swarmed by zombies? Adam turns undead to test if the “might of the living dead” can bust down Jamie’s door. And, can you outrun — or outsmart — a horde?

I will catch the Mythbusters and the zombies. Also realized that you can see a lot of favorite Halloween episodes on youtube. I just watched the Halloween episode of My So Called Life. I forgot how much I liked it.

75th Anniversary of the War of the Worlds Broadcast American Experience on PBS Premieres October 29, 2013} Shortly after 8 p.m. on the Halloween Eve, 1938, the voice of a panicked radio announcer broke in with a news bulletin reporting strange explosions taking place on the planet Mars, followed minutes later by a report that Martians had landed in the tiny town of Grovers Mill, New Jersey. Although most listeners understood that the program was a radio drama, the next day's headlines reported that thousands of others plunged into panic, convinced that America was under a deadly Martian attack. It turned out to be H.G. Wells' classic The War of the Worlds, performed by 23-year-old Orson Welles. (more at link) War of the Worlds Radiolab In our very first live hour, we take a deep dive into one of the most controversial moments in broadcasting history: Orson Welles' 1938 radio play about Martians invading New Jersey. "The War of the Worlds" is believed to have fooled over a million people when it originally aired, and it's continued to fool people since--from Santiago, Chile to Buffalo, New York to a particularly disastrous evening in Quito, Ecuador. Note: This is a live version of the original Radiolab show from some years back. There are some new touches.
