I thought we were told the longer they are zombies the faster they can walk...this series seems to say the opposite

No, they start out juicy and fast, then slow down as the corpses decay and dry out.

I'd take a dried out zombie chasing me over a ripe, juicy one any day of the week!

Fear The Walking Dead is doing it's thing at Comic-Con today, so we might hear later on about a start date. They've also released quite a few tiny promos, like the one above, but maybe there will also be a longer trailer today. Walking Dead (the main one) will probably start October 11th, so if Fear airs in the same time slot (which I'd expect) they need to start the six episodes August 30th at the latest to get them done by the start of TWD. It'd be good to have a couple of weeks break, and good for it to start two weeks earlier ;).

This is weird - I posted the other day about the new trailer will come out after it's viewed in comic con- hmmmm, what happened? 😳😁 So I'm waiting for the release of a real trailer and not a little promo that tells nothing. But to me, I thought the whole idea was to release FWD earlier so we wouldn't have such a huge break till the actual walking dead aired

The internet ate it, Lost fan ;). The new TWD trailer is out (posted a link in the other thread). Maybe I was wrong and the Fear thing is later, not today.

And here it is: https://tvline.com/2015/07/10/fear-the-walking-dead-trailer-season-1-spinoff-video/ Premiere is August 23rd! That gives a one week gap between the final and TWD starting.

Awesome - thanks, Kitt! I had always wished the Walking Dead would do more flashbacks so we could see the early days. Glad that's where the new one is starting.

Here's the tvline.com summary of the Comic-Con panel: http://tvline.com/2015/07/10/fear-the-walking-dead-comic-con-2015-season-1-spoilers/ “Tonally, it’s incredibly different,” the EP continued. Since the first season takes place during the span of two or three weeks while The Walking Dead‘s Rick was in his coma (for 45 weeks), “It’s the shark you don’t see. We don’t get to full apocalypse until the end of the season. That’s not to say we don’t have walkers. It starts as a family drama, and we filter the apocalypse through that.” During the early stages of the outbreak, “There’s a great sense of tension and apprehension,” Erickson previewed. “At first glance, they don’t know what this is. They think they’re sick, they’re on something… We get to show the process by which the city goes down.” and more at the link

My dvr has found a tv show to tape. It's on at 6.36am morning of Sunday August 9th (might be 9.36am for some) under the normal "The Walking Dead" show title. The description says "A Look at Fear the Walking Dead" and it is only five minutes long. Other than that I don't know what it is.

I think it's just a mini preview/teaser. I've seen those at times for The Walking Dead and other shows as well.

"Since the first season takes place during the span of two or three weeks while The Walking Dead‘s Rick was in his coma (for 45 weeks), “It’s the shark you don’t see." Huh? Is that saying Rick was in his coma for 45 weeks?

That had to be a typo and they meant either 4-5 weeks (28-35 days) or 45 days not weeks. 45 weeks is almost a year and when they go to the CDC Jenner says something about it being 63 days since the disease went global and six months since that Wildfire thing, which they never explained but was presumably the release or first incidence of the virus. eta: maybe that doesn't prove anything, as I don't think there'd been the strange stories on the news when Rick was shot, so it could have been ages before the outbreak but still, pretty sure it's a typo!

Just found another interview with the EP and he says "4 to 5 weeks." You can actually imagine that if the person who transcribed the previous interview didn't know much of the story (or was just rushing) that they could hear "four to five" as "fortyfive." Anyway, this interview is about the timespan the first season of FearTWD will cover, and they say they will not catch up with the time Rick awoke from his coma: “By the end of season 1, we definitely know the world has changed, but we’re not at the same place where Rick woke up,” Erickson said. “There’s still a window of time, we’ll have some real estate left. Rick’s coma was about 4 to 5 weeks. If you track our story, we probably go three weeks over the course of our first season. Not spoilerish that I can tell: http://www.ew.com/article/2015/07/31/fear-walking-dead-season-1-timeline And oh yes, Mr Erickson, I will definitely be tracking your timeline!

I wasn't sure I would watch this, but the little 5 minute preview they are showing this week was very intriguing!

The first three minutes of the show have been released (by AMC) and are here: https://www.facebook.com/FearTWD It doesn't play for me, but maybe others will have better luck.

Today's the DAY!!! There's also a Talking Dead beforehand, although it's billed as being mostly about the original TWD next season. No Talking Dead after. We watched Maggie yesterday, an Arnie movie where his daughter gets the zombie virus, bit like The Governor's Penny. Great way to get depressed and not at all a good lead in the FearTWD!

I'm looking forward to it also. I think. But I still need a Talking Dead show afterward... but it doesn't look like that will happen at all?

Not this season. Chris Hardwick has hinted that if the ratings are high for the show this season then TD will follow it next season. I think it's going to be a very different show (FearTWD over TWD) at least at the beginning, but if the writing's at the same high standard and the characters are good there's no reason why it should be a big hit. And more Chris Hardwick is always a good thing.
