I have been seeing some really good commercials for new shows, mostly on ABC, but I am afraid to watch because they always get cancelled. Guess I will give them a shot.

Forever, Blackish, How to get away with murder.

The first episode of Forever (ABC) is at their website and on demand, I really liked it! Kind of Sherlocky/Bonesy with a touch of Sleepy Hollow sensibility, mostly due to the hunky British main guy.

Regarding the Discovery Channel comments made above.
I have a friend who absolutely SWEARS that there are Mermaids because she saw this show and now thinks there is scientific proof to their existence.
She is happy thinking that so I don't laugh at her too hard lol.

Just a heads up....

HBO and Cinemax are free through Sept 8. Great time to go binge on Game of Thrones and a ton of other shows in on-demand if you've never seen them.

Z Nation Debut: Friday, September 12 on SYFY

ZNATION-master675
"Z Nation": From left, Harold Perrineau, Tom Everett Scott and Kellita Smith in this apocalyptic Syfy series, which has its debut on Friday evening.

Looks like this is a comedy zombie series...a "Zombedy"? It starts Friday night (tonight) on SYFY.

Added bonus: It has DJ Qualls (Garth from "Supernatural") AND a nasty undead baby! I'm in.

If Driving Past Zombies, Don’t Stop
‘Z Nation,’ a Zombie Series on Syfy

When it comes to fiction, the Syfy channel lives a double life. Its series are mostly straightforward, reasonably serious genre entertainment, sometimes high in their class, despite low budgets and expectations (“Battlestar Galactica,” “Continuum”). Its original films, on the other hand, are gleefully and notoriously schlocky, a living museum of B-movie practice and an invitation to communal pleasure: Here’s a joke. Be in on it.

“Z Nation,” a new zombie series beginning on Friday night, may signal that the movie side of the channel’s split personality is winning, that its programmers have a case of “Sharknado” fever. The show is from the production company behind that fish-whirling Twitter sensation, and based on the first episode, it looks as if it’s going to be a tongue-in-cheek Syfy Saturday night flick stretched out to 13 weeks. That’s a lot of corny jokes and corn-syrup blood.

Looks like fun.

Hey, Z Nation was a hoot! That baby zombie managed to creep me out and crack me up at the same time.

A line heard in the previews for next week:

"Amish zombies. Really."

Kitt, are you watching "Queer As Folk" again, since it came on again on Showtime?

Kit - Thank you for posting all of the premiere dates above.

I had completely forgotten about Z Nation and will watch a repeat before next Friday. Glad to hear you guys liked it! Did they really only use Harold Perrineau for one episode?

I just saw a preview of Gotham and am looking forward to seeing most of that cast. I will watch anything that has Donal Logue in the cast!

(((((Zeno))))! So nice to see you! No, I haven't been watching on Showtime, but I did see it is streaming on Netflix and started watching it there. I got near the end of season one but I'm a bit scared/reluctant to watch those last few really emotional episodes because they have changed the soundtrack on a lot of the songs. I didn't think it would affect me (although Id seen other complaints online) but it does kind of spoil special moments that you know one way and then see another. I have the dvds and should move over to them, but they're not as convenient as watching online these days.

You're welcome Kappy :-)

I hate the soundtrack now. They really ruined it. But, I still love the guys!

I also enjoyed Red Band Society, but don't know if it has staying power. Kids seem to be running the hospital.

Weird schedule last night on CBS was because of football.

Eastern:

60 Minutes at 7:30 (started at 8:00)
Madam Secretary at 8:30 (started at 9:00)
Good Wife at 9:30 (started at 10:00)
Madam Secretary - repeat at 10:30 (cancelled)
Local news at 11:30 (started at 11:00)

Football ran half long until 8:00 (surprise surprise -- NO surprise) so CBS didn't air repeat of Madam Secretary.

Gotham was awesome! One of my favorite young actors in a storied tale that never gets old. Can't wait to see what Barbara is hiding from good doer James Gordon. :-)

I'm trying to start new threads for shows that people seem excited about and moving posts over but of course anyone is welcome to start a new thread about a show that they enjoy. :-)

Good to hear Legal. I had to choose between Gotham and Scorpion and Scorpion won out due to my mood, lol. I love the actors in Gotham and hope the scripts do them justice.

Kappy - I think the pilot was spot on. Loved the early penguin, interesting to see early riddler in the police dept, and glimpses of poison ivy and cat woman were cool. And I already love Alfred even though we only got 2-3 lines from him. Casting did a good job with the facial expressions of the different evil characters. With all the story lines we know so well it will be interesting to see the backstories in this "pre" batman era.

Nice to see the Madam Secretary thread...

but just don't care for Scorpion... oh dear, what a waste of my time, at first it looked like something I could watch but then it became... a kids show... oh well.

I did like Forever, too bad for those who already predict a cancellation. I like Ioan Gruffud and even if the 'immortality' is such an old cliche' I think this as an interesting spin... I just like the guy anyway and with the cop (not blond for a change, since he seems to like blondes) there is a good chemistry.

Didn't watch Gotham but saw a pix of the actor playing the penguin on TV guide.

Did anyone else see it? I thought he would have been a perfect young Barnabas Collins (Dark Shadows).

Do you know if Gracepoint is another version of the British "Broadchurch", I think there is the same actor and a similar story..

Spunky, from what I've read Gracepoint is the exact same story as Broadchurch. I've even heard it described as pretty much shot for shot, though not quite as good. But, it does have a different character end up being the murderer. It does have David Tennant playing the detective, as did Gracepoint.

I'm sorry, I meant to say "as did Broadchurch".
