I saw an interview with the lady who plays Bernadette today... couldn't believe her real life voice is completely normal! It's not even slightly squeaky like her character.

She uses that normal voice in the first ep she was in when she goes on her first date with Howard. (Penny and Leonard double date with them.) I didn't watch the show back then and so it's really strange to hear her like that when I'm so used to her sweet pipsqueaky yet annoyed/yelling every so often voice that she developed.
I think she has also been a guest on The Talk.
I think her character is so much more interesting with that voice. She was (probably purposefully so) a boring character at the beginning in that first ep that she was in.
(off topic, I recently heard Rose from 2 1/2 Men. She is from New Zealand and sounds nothing like Rose on the show!)

Happymom, The first time I ever saw Melanie Lynskey (Rose) was in a very famous movie from 1994 that was made in New Zealand, "Heavenly Creatures", so it was the opposite for me. The first time I saw her she spoke with her New Zealand accent.

I've read all the Ann Perry books and sort of get creeped out every time I stop to think that she was one of the girls who killed the mother who Heavenly Creatures was based on. She was in the pokey for a few years and then immigrated to England. I wonder how she feels now about what she did all those years ago. It was a pretty brutal murder.
