It really was a great show. Hard to predict, emotional, and then a terrific ending.
And that scene at the end, with Reese and Finch in the hospital? That was a real surprise!

Could anyone understand what Finch said at the end of the show after Reese bumped into him at the hospital? Finch opened a file and mumbled something, but I coudn't understand what he said and I must have hit rewind 4-5 times before I finally gave up.
Lazylu, ITA. New writers can kill a show.

I may still have it on the DVR Lexie and could possibly look tonight. But my poor recollection was that he said something along the lines of: sorry they were too late.

That's pretty much it as I recall. He said I'm sorry, we were too late. The file had both a photo of Reese, and one of Jessica.

Jessica's -- one of the ones that Ben talked about being spit out over and over and him not understanding until he realized it was women in danger for domestic abuse.

Brenda, that was my take also. From the beginning of the show, Harold has alluded to "we weren't in time for our own loved ones"... in this case it was Jessica. We still don't know who Harold lost.

I thought he said "I'm sorry" when he ran into him. Of course, it meant much more then just running into him with the wheel chair.

After he runs into him in the wheelchair, he looks at the folder, realizes it's him in the photo, and says "I'm so sorry". But yeah, the implication is so deep.

A thought - Reese's chess playing friend says "happy birthday" to him in Chinese, and Reese understands.
When he and his former CIA partner went to China? the man lying on the ground says something about 'the machine' in Chinese. Reese asks her what he said, she said he wanted something for the pain.
They were supposed to be looking for a virus, but 'the machine' in China, is it related to 'the machine' of Harold Finch??
Lots of hints for complicated connections!
