Abusive Personal Messages or Emails Although this is fortunately uncommon, people occasionally receive abusive PMs and emails from TVCH Members or people who happen to be reading the board. We understand how terribly distressing these emails can be and we will do everything possible to ensure that the situation is resolved. Harassing another Member is against the rules and will lead to a suspension of posting privileges. There are some steps that Members may take to help prevent this problem before it occurs: 1. Update your profile to hide your email address. Click the link to "Edit Profile" that is shown near the top right corner of every TVCH screen. Scroll down to Preferences and place a check mark in the box next to "Do not display my real e-mail address with my profile". This will ensure that no one at TVCH will be able to see your email address and people will only be able to send you PMs using the board software (which will mean that the source is clearly identifiable). Only share your email address with friends that you know and trust. 2. Never publicly post your email address on the board. Posting your address on the board also makes it available to spammers using spam search engines to harvest email addresses. If you do receive an abusive PM or abusive email that appears to be from another TVCH Member: Please note that in order to help you, we need your cooperation and willingness to work with us and take appropriate steps to solve the problem. Please forward the entire email (including headers) to the TVCH Moderator account. We will take appropriate steps to track the perpetrator and we will also advise you about steps that you may take to prevent the receipt of further emails. Please do not discuss the emails on the board. Discussing the emails on the board only makes a bad situation worse. It disrupts the board, it generates fear and it involves the public bashing of another Member or Members. Furthermore, it also gives the perpetrator the satisfaction of knowing that his or her emails are creating the disturbance and problem that he or she hoped they would create. Any such posts will be moderated and removed. Please be assured that we will make every effort possible to ensure that the situation is resolved favorably. We have enormous empathy for anyone who is a victim of abusive emails and messages. Finally, we don't want to create unwarranted concern and we must stress that these problems are extremely uncommon at TVCH. As always, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
