Padre Island, well, actually it is adjacent to both Padre Island and South Padre Island, which are two separate islands that do not connect, although they once did. But I can guarantee you that if you show up for your hotel reservation in South Padre Island and you go over to Padre Island instead, you are going to have to turn around and drive several hundred miles further south. I usually cross over the Laguna Madre about twice a day on the Queen Isabela 3 mile long causeway. 80. MM . . . I could go on and on about the Laguna Madre. It is a quite unique ecosystem.
