Thanks, Eggie. I had just turned 18 when my father died, and 19 when my mother died, with a 17 year old brother. Too young to lose parents, too old to go live with relatives who were poorer than us, and we were poor. And that is when I learned that we are able to do whatever we must do, and so I did. And landed butter-side up most of the time and had a wonderful life and flying out to Singapore with my lovely husband in about 6-7 weeks, tour Singapore for 3-4 days, then get on a cruise ship and meander about the far east, then to Japan and South Korea, then cross the Pacific and end in Seattle, where we take a bus home!! I suppose I should go post this in my folder one of these days. If I forget, and you notice that people think I might be dead, please go disabuse them of that notion.

Yup Juju, the Alaskan Cruise departs June 22nd. My sister and BIL will be joining us on this cruise so this will help with my curmudgeon husband who doesn't like cruises. The only reason he "allowed" me to book this cruise was because I told him that I have 10+ years to travel and if he won't go with me, I'm going on my own. . . and I will go on my own if necessary. So there!! LOL!!

Well, Eggie, keep in mind that Holland America often has cruises where 3rd and 4th person in cabin can travel free, so if sisters are willing to cruise with their husbands and you want to go and they are willing, that is also a possibility. You could either split the cost 3-ways, OR you pay for extras like Wi-Fi, drink packages, and gratuities, and you plan private shore excursions NOT the ship's excursions.
