Karuuna, I'm with you. I won't waste my time watching this show with Stern's as a judge. I don't need to give him a chance.....I've seen/heard all I need of Howard Sterns.

He doesn't think that of women. From his mouth. If he didn't mean it, he shouldn't have said it. The point is not that he *makes* women take their clothes off, the point is that it is exploitive. When was the last time he had a naked man strength contest? He uses them or ratings and financial gain, he knows it, and I don't like it. And yes, his show is banned in MANY workplaces, because of its sexual harassing nature, and to avoid lawsuits. I"m sorry, you may not like that fact, but it's simply true.

I find the whole concept of exploitation a rather grey area. I do agree though that while how someone treats their family is important (especially to the family) it is not necessarily indicative of how they treat others. There are many people who treat their loved ones well and yet are horrible people in other ways.

Well, apparently he doesn't ask his wife and daughters to come on the radio show and ride his masturbation machine, or take off their clothes. So, I guess that's one way he treats them differntly. As the saying goes, when someone shows you who they are, believe them.

Well, apparently he doesn't ask his wife and daughters to come on the radio show and ride his masturbation machine, or take off their clothes. Like I said the woman WANT to come on and do this. They ask him a lot. I just don't see the big deal. If a chick wants to get naked on a radio show, get naked then. The girls are doing it to promote themselves. This is also a very VERY minor portion of the show. It's not like he has girls getting naked every week. Perception IS reality and we just perceive him differently that's all.

Well, a lot of people perceive him that way, apparently. Didn't he get the number 10 spot on the most hated people in America recently? And let me repeat, HE is the one who said "all women are *****" - HIS words. If he didn't think it, he wouldn't say it. And that was in the last year! I don't care if women *want* to do it. People want to do lots of things that are not healthy or good for them, you don't have to help them; or make a million off of it. Those tapes of women getting naked are all over the internet, and don't think people are watching for them for the artistic value. When I listened to his show, there was an awful lot of coercion by Howard to get women to expose themselves as well. He has his choices, and he makes them according to his values. That's not perception, that's reality. I don't like his value system. That's not perception either. I have no respect or admiration for someone who makes the choices he does. And I have choices to make about what I will and won't support. And I won't support any show that supports him. Period.

What was the context of that statement Karuuna? He would not just a blanket statement like that. When I listened to his show, there was an awful lot of coercion by Howard to get women to expose themselves as well. Hasn't done that in years. In fact a caller today that called and complained they didn't ask some girl to ride the Sybian and like Gary told him, they just forgot about it. The show isn't really focused on that stuff anymore. I view him as a wonderful man, father, friend, husband, etc. That is my reality.

You can view him however you want, but that's your perception. I don't believe we all get to have our own personal "realities," however we can perceive reality accurately or incorrectly. Reality is based on facts. It's a *fact* that he is a purveyor of soft porn, and as such I do not believe he is appropriate for a family show. IF asking people to ride the masturbation machine wasn't a feature of his show, people wouldn't be calling to say they missed their soft porn, would they?

I am sure we will be seeing a different Howard from the notorius shock jock we've all heard about for years. I have listened to Howard for a long time and there is more to his show than exploiting naked women. He is a real fan of AGT so he will bring an interesting opinion to the show! I cant wait to start watching.

He may well have been told he had to tone it down for the show. I don't care if he does. As I said, I won't be watching because I won't support him in any way. It's like asking Hugh Hefner to be a host of a family show. It's not what he says on that show that matters. It's who he is that matters to me.

Well, his first wife didn't divorce him for laughs, but for what he said about her on his radio show exposing her private tragedy to make radio jokes. It certainly did not show respect for his unborn child. I do believe perception is very important and perception is part what you hear and part what you want to hear. For example. Many years ago, I worked in an office where there was a man from the south, who treated me very well and called me sweetheart, he was my friend, I allowed him to do it. Another guy was jealous of how I rose in the office and one day he called me sweetheart with disdain in his voice, I told him he had no right to call me that. He did not understand that sincerity was how I judged that. This is a man who has no respect or most people, and if you enjoy that, it is fine, but I still say, it was horrifying to listen to him on the day of that woman's death, there was no respect for the listeners own shock. After that show, I switched to NPR and never looked back. I have no desire to see or hear him again, no matter who is on, I will never watch him on any show, if I am watching a show and they announce him, I turn the show off. This is my perception and I have a right to my feelings. I think NBC might be surprised at how many have the same feelings, no cleaning up his rep for me.

He may well have been told he had to tone it down for the show. They wouldn't have had to, he is a professional.

Well, his first wife didn't divorce him for laughs, but for what he said about her on his radio show exposing her private tragedy to make radio jokes. That is 100% NOT TRUE! Did you just make that up? He was married for 23 years and they had 3 children together. Howard has NEVER EVER sad one bad thing about Allison after the divorce and she have NEVER EVER said anything about Howard. Their divorce had nothing to do with him talking about her on the show. After 23 years they grew apart. Now they are both married and happy.

A professional what? There are professional porn stars, con-men, thieves, etc. He has built his profession on shocking people. I have no desire to be shocked. What he considers naked honesty, I consider disrespect.

A professional what? He has had a successful radio show 5 days a week, 4-5 hours a day for 28 years. That is being good at what you do. He is not coming on the show to be shocking. He is coming to be a judge on a show he is a fan of, nothing more. If his show was all about shocking people it have grown old long ago and he would be cancelled.

He's made countless jokes about other people's tragedies, Columbine for one. How is that a family man? Rush Limbaugh has a successful show too. I don't think much of him either. Success is not a measure of character.

I'll watch the first show. But if he sends thru jiggly girl act with no talent (i.e. not appropriate for family show) then I'm done. Piers was the sanity, Sharon is the heart, Howie is the comedy. How will Howard be? Hard to tell.

Well according to several sources, Howard Stern is indeed the new AGT judge. This could be a train wreck. Three judges with three very strong personalities. I do not envy Nick Cannon his job this year.

I am just blatantly uncomfortable with a seller of porn judging young girls performing in this show. Hopefully AGT will learn a lesson from hiring one of the top ten most hated people in America.

Excuse me, Am I being accused of lying about Stern? Trust me, I don't have time to make up lies about someone. I heard him joke about the dead weather/traffic woman with my own ears, I can almost site the date, I can site the year, it was when they had not completed Route 74 and I had to drive on Rte 22 to get to work. Did I make up the thing about his first wife? Hardly, you don't have to go far to get things on Stern. Howard Stern and wife split As Stern moved from market to market, increasing his profile and his audience, his relationship with Alison became fodder for his show. He once infuriated his wife by joking on the air about her miscarriage. Howard Stern Bio Stern hit a personal low point, however, when he joked about his wife's miscarriage on-air - a move that nearly cost him his marriage. Please don't accuse me of lying or , as you said, "making things up".

That was VERY early in their marriage and the went on to have 3 daughters AFTER that. It had NOTHING to do with their divorce. Read what you posted. He "once" infuriated his wife and it "nearly" cost his marriage. You may not be lying but that is certainly misconstruing the facts by saying it WAS the reason why they divorced.

Sadie this is from your link Stern and his wife Alison, are parting as friends, their spokesman says. Stern and wife Alison still care for each other, said the spokesman, and they've "settled all their concerns.'' They thought so highly of one another that they didn't even hire attorneys for their divorce. They went to mediation and split everything equally. Name another celebrity divorce that was that friendly and fair.

Long conversation, not sure if it started with confirmation that Stern IS going to be the new AGT judge, but in case it didn't, he has confirmed it. Whether he's misunderstood or a changed man, or exactly the way he used to portray himself, he made his bed and he has to lie in it. If a lot of people feel uncomfortable watching him it's a result of his actions, and I'm really surprised AGT took the risk of hiring him given his reputation. He'll probably be fine in his job as judge but watching him would leave a bad taste in my mouth. Think I'm going to skip it.

I put little credence in what a "spokesman" would say about their clients. They are paid to give a certain impression. Whether the facts are perfect or not, it's clear that what he did was wrong. We simply are not privvy to her personal story and whether that was one factor in a long list of factors that lead to their divorce. Like asking women to disrobe and masturbate in front of him and having cybersex. but hey, he says he never 'actually' cheated on her. Of course they split in 1999, the same year the Colorado State Legislature censured him (almost unheard of) for his horrific comments about Columbine. Maybe that was when she finally understood what kind of man he really was. April 21, 1999, the day after the Columbine High School massacre; commenting on the mass murders, Stern said on his show, 'There were some really good-looking girls running with their hands over their heads. Did those kids try to have sex with any of those good-looking girls? They didn't even do that? At least if you're going to kill yourself and kill the kids, why wouldn't you have some sex? If I was going to kill some people, I'd take them out with sex.' Yup, that's the 'family' man, Howard Stern. About teenage girls. Teenage girls like his very own daughters, running for their lives. Suggesting that the killers should have raped them. <shaking my head> Howard himself says he was shocked and broken hearted that his marriage ended, he had 'failed' and let his family down - and I believe him. I have no doubt he let them down, and many others. His wife was gracious in parting as friends, and may well have done so for their children. Here are some of Mr. Stern's other shining moments, courtesy of TMZ.com http://www.tmz.com/2005/12/15/sterns-most-shocking-moments/
