I am not sure whether I will watch or not. I was unhappy last season when it seemed some of the "competitions" were cruel, IMO. Maybe the producers will have changed it a bit so it doesn't seem so punitive to the people in the field because of their parents/loved ones in the bunkers.

The players camp outdoors in rough conditions and participate in various tasks, while family members remain in an outpost and watch, compete and negotiate to give their player some advantages If the family members feel that it’s appropriate, they can extract the player at any point. Last season some players were quite desperate and happy to be extracted while at least one or two were quite disappointed that their family extracted them before they were ready. One player was doing exceptionally well and enjoying the experience and likely could have won and their family extracted them basically because they missed them. I felt really badly for the player and I can’t see how that worked out well for the entire family in the end. Similar to many other viewers, I enjoyed the show up until the last episode, where the winner was decided more based on luck rather than skill and effort.

Juju, FWIW, many of us struggled with the show because of how the competitions were conducted among the family members. Those competitions dictated what advantages (food, sleeping bags, etc) that their relation received out in the wild. It did feel like some of the comps/decisions made were unbearably cruel, ie, some getting lots of food or amenities, some getting none and starving and freezing.

Thanks, I think I won't look for it. I still hate that the Survivor players no longer get rice automatically.
