I don't know what you mean by "newspapers, radio, tv..."

Those are things that individuals read. It's not the same as the kind of group mob mentality that you see on the internet. it's like witch hunts on a mega scale.

Rage? Not for me. The definition of rage is "violent, uncontrolled anger." Perhaps you mean it differently. But I don't think "violent, uncontolled anger" is ever warranted.

Anger? Yes. Used in a healthy way.

but in their religion like so many - it is always the woman's fault
Anna Duggar 'partially blames herself' for husband Josh cheating and using porn
...
The 27-year-old - who shares four children with Josh - will likely 'on some level.... absorb some of the blame' for her spouse's cheating and addiction to online porn, a Duggar family insider says.
And she will 'no way' leave Josh for his actions -
...
The source said that there will be 'some suggestion' in the family household about whether Anna 'should have been more aware of the pressures Josh was under' and the 'issues he was facing'.
It may be implied that she could have better counseled her husband of seven years, they said.

just when you think you could not dislike this family any more.

Chris Hayes of MSNBC had an interesting segment on Josh Duggar tonight.

I completely agree with his guest.

I don't dislike them. I don't even know them.

It's up to them, how they want to work out their relationship or not.

As for the words of some unidentified "insider", I'd take that with a few grains of salt. There are a lot of "maybe this" and "might that" in that article. In other words, it's just a bunch of guessing.

About the video I posted:
The jist of what the guest said is that of all the people on the list exposed, Josh Duggar is not one that should get consideration or a pass. As should none of the others that publicly condemn or push legislation that polices others bedrooms. It's all about the hypocrisy. Or as I call the bullshit.

I mean that before the internet we actually did have ways to stay informed.

Posted in response to Sadiesmom.

I wasn't posting about the crazies spewing hate on the internet.

However, I don't get the part about things you read.. people still write letters to the editor, op ed pieces, they did and still do call in to radio shows to express opinions.

And yes, I do understand that there is less anonymity, but the internet was not the beginning the ability to express rage or hatred or to bash others.

Yes, it makes it easier and worse (but I was posting while you were posting, was not responding to your post ahead of mine).

Shoot me for not researching before posting.. but having experienced child pornography the feelings aren't all that controlled.

Outrage, fury, anger..

Basically, I don't see consumption of child pornography something that is only the business of the family.

And I consider it healthy to discuss this, which we are doing.

I was just replying to anyone commenting on hate filled posts, I was discussing hateful replies on the internet with my sister and I guess I brought some feelings here.
she won't read any of her news on the internet because people are so mean. But people have always been mean.

yes, people have always been mean.

But we've never had the ability to *globally* pile on before. It's a kind of road rage multiplied by millions.

That's my point. Yes, we had all those other things, but they simply didn't rise to the magnitude of personal destruction that the internet does.

More and more I see our country moving away from the ability to see people as complex beings. We used to accept that. JFK and MLK were womanizers, but they did great things for our country. We could see both aspects.

Now, you are either all good or bad it seems, fueled by rabid attacks of internet rage (and I *DO* mean RAGE). It's not a healthy way of viewing the world or people.

Just to be clear, it has not been reported that Josh Duggar was viewing child porn. I know that no one here actually posted that is was. I just wanted to point it out because child porn has been mentioned in this thread recently. Josh Duggar admitted to watching porn. not child porn.

Also, in the article linked above about Anna taking blame, the article does not say that Anna herself said that to anyone. Very misleading headline.

My heart breaks for Anna at this time and really all of the Duggars. I agree with Ophillasgrandma, "I am just plain heartbroken. I enjoyed their show. Now it's gone.

Maremeko mentioned Jared Fogle further up the thread. He's the one who viewed child porn.

I haven't read back through the archives of this show but I was talking to a friend today about the Duggars and he raised a very valid point, that hadn't even occurred to me.

He said, with that many children, you can bet your last dollar that at least one of them is gay. Then he said, can you imagine living in that family and having to conceal your true self from them your entire live, just to be accepted? :-(

I heard that Anna made a statement saying she forgives Josh, they're working on their marriage and she has no intention of leaving him.

I really wouldn't expect anything less, as that is what they know, and they were talking on Dish Nation that Mama Duggar says it could be that Anna refused her husband... and that's agains their religion (again, it was the discussion on Dish Nation paraphrased)

Its just a sad aspect of a life I have no connection to, or a culture I know nothing about. I found them shocking, almost a train wreck I couldn't look away from, and I did want to know what the kids would grow up and "become" (Firefighters, teachers, or just part of the "cult"like culture the TV show was airing.)

statistically, it's almost 100% at least one of the Duggar children is gay. that has always concerned me given their views.

as to forgiveness and leaving him. the vows we take say 'for better and for worse' everyone has to decide for themselves what is 'the worse'. for some people that is simply lack of communication, for some it's affairs. and conversely, for some affairs, isn't 'the worse' but it might unable to support the family. it's very hard to decide for another couple what 'their worse' is.

Rupertbear, I have thought that frequently. I just find them sad since they have such a narrow view of the world and life.

Exactly, Dipo.

The irony is that the more "religious" people are, supposedly doing things in the name of God and/or Jesus, the more rabid they are in their beliefs, the more hate and intolerance and hypocrisy they espouse and the really sad part is they don't even seem to see it.

Rupertbear, I get that the pic is from the above article, but you need to repost the link when you post an image. I fixed it for you, but next time we'll just delete it.

FOX news was supposed to be rerunning the one hour apology/explanation show again that Josh's parents did shortly after sexual abuse of his sister's was exposed, but I see they decided not to show it. I think at this point with the latest revelations it would look ridiculous.... I mean more ridiculous.
