Never heard the phrase dark web. What IS that? Sounds like something from Star Wars. LOL Kar said: I feel little sympathy for people who used Ashley Madison and were exposed. The only possible exception is people whose spouses are permanently disabled, or who have an open relationship - and the latter won't care if they are exposed. ITA 1 zillion percent!

Mame- it's hacker private land. Where child porno lives. Drug deals. All kinds of illegal transactions. It's also where some whistleblowing websites live. It uses TOR encryption and there are no search engines. You have to know the URL you want to access. The TOR encryption makes it difficult if not impossible to find the actual server on which any information is found. There are some legitimate uses too, but most of it is criminal activity.

And because it IS hacker land and it's filled with criminal activity is exactly why I would hesitate to believe much of what comes out of it. As for people hating the Duggar family, they do. The acid comments made on this board alone evidences that. I wouldn't even comment when the whole scandal broke because of it.

If someone spoofed him, wouldn't they have had to pay the several hundred dollars (or whatever the price was, I've seen $1,000 in some reports) for those Ashley Madison accounts? I think if it wasn't true, we would have heard a denial by now.

But why would someone go through the trouble to pay money to spoof him? Ashley Madison was to be completely private. Nobody ever thought this info would be public.

Suppose the info is at the site because someone at Ashley Madison put it there. They probably aren't the most stellar people on the internet.

the freejinger site did explain how it is more likely than not that it is indeed Josh that used his credit card and his address and did spend those thousands of dollars (one with a 3 month guarantee to have a hook up or money back) My question is - how would anyone know that a site like Ashley Madison even exists? What do you google for that! (yes, I am naive! and a bit sarcastic) I think it shines a light on our lack of security on the web - that they can post all this information, hack IRS, etc that is what really worries me. The people on that side had names they used on the site and they were guaranteed a level of protection when using their secure credit card area to pay - the site felt that they were protecting the anonymity of the users, which is why there were so many users.... but again - to not only hack, but to blackmail and post the information - something has to be done - but due to this "Dark Web" the bad guys have the edge. and the real victims seem to be Anna and her children.

Reader, FWIW, I heard Ashley Madison commercials for MONTHS on CNN on XM Radio. Over and over and over.... And they also advertise on TV. OG - Ashley Madison would have NO reason to spoof him or anyone else. In fact, their business DEPENDS on secrecy, so if they let out that any information was vulnerable it would hurt them. So I don't see a reason to believe that they would do this. Missp - yes, it is hacker land, but that's where this information is always dumped, whether they hacked Target or the IRS. Those were all true hacks, and I tend to believe this is also. Hackers think themselves a kind of vigilante group at times. They had an ethical issue with AM, so they went after them. I'm more inclined to believe the info, than disbelieve it. And I did not want to believe it.

AM is actually out of Toronto and advertises everywhere. On tv and radio. The were a main advertiser at the Super Bowl in 2010. The company is named after the two daughters of the owner. (kind of creepy in my opinion).

Reader said, "and the real victims seem to be Anna and her children." And that is my exact objection to all this gossip and scandalmongering by the press. This woman and her children deserve to be left in peace. Whether or not this is true is NONE OF OUR BUSINESS! Their show is off the air. It's not coming back. They've already been destroyed, when does it become enough? Will people push until one of them commits suicide? Will a divorce be enough? What is enough?

Why is Anna still with that loser?? IMHO she and the kids would be better off starting fresh and finding a REALLY good man.

It is our business if the family values council affects our politics. Calling out the hypocrisy of the people who are deciding what is morally OK and what is not serve a purpose.

Yes, these people are working to affect public policy, so their behavior is open to public scrutiny.

Any family or individual that makes it their mission to deny basic civil rights to an entire segment of the human race because it's an affront to the sanctity of marriage can and should be scrutinized and the hypocrisy should be shouted from the mountain tops.

On the victim front....it is a shame that Josh with all his talk of Jesus and purity, side hugs and all that jazz that he himself set up his wife, his young children, and his family to be victims and a laughing joke (ripe with meme's galore). But I'm sure he'll ask forgiveness from his god and go help rehab a house and all will be just swell in Duggarland.

yes, I have to agree that if you are going to spend your one life working to affect public policy in a way that casts judgment on others, you ought to be prepared to face some criticism on your own moral lapses. He has resigned however, I've no idea what he is doing now. On the other hand, I'm not much for piling on. The reasons for sexual deviance are varied, and we don't know how he got to where he is. My only suggestion is that this time he go to a licensed treatment professional - one with a PhD and specializing in his issues. It's okay if they are Christian. Other than that, I'm not going to "pile on." Out of respect for his wife and especially his children.

Anyone who does something wrong has people who care about them and are devastated by what their loved one did, what the press or internet say about them, and by the sentence they get when they are prosecuted. They don't get any special dispensation for not being the one who carried out the crime. The crime here isn't that big, but the hypocrisy is. And I'm sorry for his family, but Josh did this to them, not us. If they are hurting HE is to blame. And I don't see them being kind to the loved ones of the family they victimised, and remember their victims didn't even do anything wrong. Not even a hint of them seeing things a little differently nowadays or denouncing some of their previous opinions. The Duggars are not untouchable just because some of them are sweet people.

Obviously Karuuna, has more respect for Josh's family than he does. I feel sorry for his kids and wife. Sins of the father and all. Truly despicable person Josh turned out to be....who parented this guy. LOL

I never heard of Ashley Madison before. If anyone wants to know what the dark web is capable of doing you should watch CSI Cyber Crimes in TV. I could not believe how they can hack into absolutely anything and everything! Patricia Arquette stars in it. It is going into its second season soon, I think. There might be reruns to watch somewhere. Nothing about the Duggars surprises me anymore. I had being feeling creepy about them 5 years ago and stopped watching their show then. When children are too good to be true, then you know something is not right! That is how I felt about them then and haven't changed my mind since. I feel bad for his wife and children, his brothers and sisters, but not at all for Michelle and Jim Bob! I have also read that the Duggars are shopping around a show they want to do about advice for sexually abused people! I tend to not believe that one. When I read what their followers are saying about them, it scares me. They have such a huge following of people who love and adore every single thing that is Duggar and who truly believe that God will always forgive you, no matter what, then to me that makes you feel invincible. It's like showing you that you are above the LAW because you will be forgiven by God.

People can't hide beneath the internets. If you are motivated enough and have enough $$$$$ you can out many people. Is Josh that 1 bad apple or are his brothers going to follow his path? I don't know but we'll find out. There is so much hate towards this family-hate that they brought on themselves. Yes they have their loyal fans but there are way more people who find them hate-filled and creepy. Josh should be happy no one spread his AM shenanigans via a robo-call

<99> Oh wait, he's ALREADY been run out of town on a rail and his entire family drug through the mud and his wife and children shamed and humiliated repeatedly. His sisters and their husbands humiliated because a scandal was what the public needed for a news cycle or two. Josh Duggar no longer works for the Family Values Council. The Duggars certainly have the right to lobby for any sort of legislation or campaign for any candidate that supports their beliefs the same as anyone who opposes those beliefs has the same right to lobby and campaign for candidates that support their beliefs. But after all that's gone on who would want their political name tied to the Duggars? No candidate I know. Josh Duggar will never be able to get a job again in any sort of public service. The Duggars will never get a television show of their own again. Anna and her children will have to live the lives of pariahs for years to come. There may actually be a point in time where they can live a somewhat normal life, but it's doubtful if people continue to heap on their heads the hatred and humiliation. As someone who has lived through something quite similar there's enough personal shame in being married to someone who would do such things to begin with. There's additional shame at being continually blind to what's going on, even if it's done in complete secret. Anna has some hard decisions and choices to make for her own future as well as the future of her children. Some of those decisions and choices may go against a lifetime of teachings and beliefs. I know, the choices I made went against mine. Unfortunately, for her, everything is public and under the scrutiny of people who hate everything she's ever believed in and stood for. We do NOT have the right to continue to persecute someone nor drag their sins out before the world, no matter how much you hate them or their stands. Anna and her children have the right to some privacy to handle this and move forward in their lives. YES, Josh needs some serious psychological help if this is true. Unfortunately, it's doubtful he'll seek it as most sex addicts see nothing wrong with what they're doing, in my experience.

Misspoufy Member 09-30-2004 "... You may not like their beliefs but no one deserves to gave their family destroyed by hate." I really wish the Duggars would apply this statement to themselves. They actively politically work to destroy families who do not believe as they believe, specifically those who have family members who identify as LGBTQ. This is a fact. Josh worked for FRC, a hate group. This is a fact. Their work at destroying families does not stop at LGBTQ either. Some of their "mission work" is to let other Christians, specifically Catholics, know that they are practicing Christianity wrong and to convert others to their beliefs of their brand of Christianity. The Duggars do not seem to have tolerance for different beliefs or behaviors. I think everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and opinions. I do not think the Duggars are open minded like that. And I think Jim Bob and Michelle have raised all those kids to be very close minded and intolerant like they are. "I implore you to give her a sense of independence, because that will serve her well for the rest of her life." -Jen Arnold of The Little Couple answering a viewer's question asking for advice on raising her own daughter with dwarfism. Certainly the Duggars do not give their daughters a sense of independence at all. I do not hate the Duggars. I hate the way Jim Bob and Michelle have brainwashed their children into believing the awful things their cult believes. I do not respect the way Jim Bob and Michelle responded to the criticism of the way they handled Josh's molestation of 4 of his sisters plus another victim. In an exasperated tone, Michelle whined that they did the best they knew how at the time. Parents have the responsibility to handle things better than the Duggars did re Josh's molesting of others. If a parent comes across a situation where they don't know what to do, for the sake of your children, you find out the best thing to do for those kids. They did not. I have no sympathy for JB or M at all re the pushback from the public re the way they handled their son's molesting of those girls. And the latest People mag article seems to indicate that JB and M thought the public would be more understanding about their situation.
