Hmmmm. Just read an interesting comment to the effect that they lived a lavish lifestyle based on fraud for longer than their prison sentences.

They got another break. Teresa doesn't have to start serving her sentence until January. A lot of people who commit crimes don't get another season of winter holidays with their family before they start their sentence. But I know it will be good for their kids, so they should just count themselves lucky!

Both would be sent to a federal prison, likely a minimum security facility so no Rahway which is a state facility for hard core criminals like murderers. Tre could go to Alderson where Martha Stewart served her sentence ; the irony of that prison is that is in the same community where the Greenbrier Resort is located, a famous , wonderful,5 star resort. Juicy could end up close to me at the Robert F. Kennedy facility here in Morgantown,WV , where the first Survivor winner Richard Hatch served time for tax evasion. RFK is definitely a minimum facility , the place looks like a college campus.

It sounds like they will stay fairly close to the New Jersey area. Tre reports on January 5, 2015.

She will probably do 6-7 months just like the other high profile Federal house guests. Nothing like being famous!

Federal prisons are much stricter than state prisons. Federal law allows a credit of UP TO 54 days for every 365 days (or one year) of good behavior.

Forty years ago my mother told me the way of the world ~ the rich declare bankruptcy and keep their mansions while the lower to middle class lose their houses because their small business weren't paid for the services rendered to those same rich people. Look at Trump and his casino in New Jersey. Not much has changed since I was a child. As for Theresa, serving first is smart so she's not thinking about it for four + years. I'm sure she and Joe agreed who would go first.

So Joe and Teresa will be living apart for about 5 years. I wonder if the marriage will survive and how they will support their family? They are just not used to living like a normal family. Even if they get to keep their house I don't see how they can afford the taxes and energy bills.

True Chieko - keeping the house is one thing. Paying the upkeep is another.

"I'm sure she and Joe agreed who would go first." That was the judge's decision. They don't get to choose who serves when. As for how will they will support their family, Teresa supposedly made $700,000 for RHONJ this season. Surely they could have made ends meet on that. Perhaps Bravo will adjust the filming schedule to accommodate her prison time.

Thanks, Sarah, for that information. I just thought it might be have been presented to the judge by their lawyer (in court or in private during the plea agreement phase) that if they did both serve time, would the courts consider letting them do that.

It makes sense that she serve first. If Joe served first, he could be facing deportation when he gets out. IF the government decided to proceed with that, he could be facing all kinds of legal problems while Teresa is serving her time, which would be very harmful for the children. So, I'm glad they were sentenced this way for the sake of the kids.

Everyone posting seems far more concerned about the kids and how this affects them than Joe and Teresa did when they went down this road. We are behind here in viewing and every time I hear her whine I don't know why this is happening, I want to smack her. It's happening because you are shady and thought you could get away with it. Period.

Sarah, that $650,000 that Tre makes every year on RHONJ doesn't put a dent in their legal fees. I would not be surprised if their legal fees top $2 million (they each retained different law firms).

According to my neighbors, film crews have been showing up in the "usual places", so I think Tre will be in most of those shows up until January.

True, Lexie, but my point was "normal" people would think a several hundred thousand dollar paycheck would be a windfall. If they hadn't played fast and loose with their finances, they would have been quite well off just with that.

Jetsfan... they are filming the reunion either this weekend or next and the season will be over in the next month or so. I'm not quite sure what they are filming now (unless they have started filming next season - which NJ has done before - start filming one season while the other season isn't quite finished airing - they did that a few seasons ago).

OR... they are doing major editing to the end of this season to capture Tre and Juicy's guilty verdict - because this season has been "in the can" for quite a while.

Maybe it was TMZ that I read that Tre and Joe are going to be interviewed by Andy on WWHL on a special edition on Monday... Here it is! http://www.tmz.com/2014/10/03/joe-teresa-giudice-andy-cohen-interview-before-prison/ She begs the judge saying she is done with tv, and then has this TV planned... Her reality is so different that the real world

I wondered if they might be filming the next season early just in case Teresa went to jail. Air that while she in jail and pick up once again when her 15 months are over. Hardly miss a beat.

This is a great recap of yesterday's events. What is really sad is had Tre and Juicy turned in their financial disclosures TIMELY and not LIED about their assets, the judge was seriously considering giving Tre house arrest and probation. Sentencing Roundup

I don't see why the judge would have a problem with her doing TV?? I would think the court/lawyers would be saying sell off all the crap you don't need AND keep working on tv so you can pay off the other people you owe money to! The rental house and beach house might help to cover some of the lawyer fees.
