New show. First ever (US) episode was tonight. They dig into family history. Family story is we're related to . . . . Genealogists unearth the truth. One young woman didn't know much more than her father's name. What they did for her had me in tears. (No, he wasn't there.) I'll be watching this show as I've always watched Antiques Roadshow.

They need to rejigger their format. Somehow they managed to make genealogy boring. We don't need lectures on who Abraham Lincoln was. And some information on HOW you reach your results, as opposed to simply regurgitating findings, would be helpful.

I liked seeing Earl Campbell on this show last night. I ran into him in the halls of Soldier Field once back in the early '80's. He was an absolute wall of a human being. His legs were like redwood trunks, I'd never seen anyone like him. I can't believe it's been over 30 years now, and he's white haired and physically disabled. It was fun seeing his face light up when learning about his father's life, though. He seemed like a very nice guy (and his son seemed like he needed an attitude adjustment LOL).

Is there a "room" to talk about Genealogy at TVCH?
Are any of you working on your family History?

Normally it's on on Monday evenings in Chicago area. Not last night. And not on schedule for next week. ??? Just looked at the web site. Only shows schedule through last week, October 14.

Bidasea, there is not a thread for Genealogy. I am working on my family history. It fascinates and frustrates me at the same time. I would be interested in having a thread and seeing if anyone shows up. Are you working on your family history?

Yes I am Mak1..Have been for many years now. It is fascinating and frustrating at the same time.Ha Ha I wish sometimes I could get someone to just do it for me, but then it would take the discovery out of it. I love this show, and have learned lots.

Bidasea, I just started researching a few years ago and immediately became addicted! I know what you mean about the discovery. If I could see my tree all done as far as possible, it just wouldn't be as gratifying as finding or proving each little piece of the puzzle.

It would be nice to have the researchers on the show prove or disprove a connection for me here and there. I love this show and hope it will be around for a while.

They are inviting people to apply for the next season. I think there were only four episodes in the first season. There were four cities listed in the write-up for the show. I can't find anymore listed on our station.

Here's the link, in case anyone wants to apply:
