LOL, Sadiesmom, I just read an article in the paper that said the disaster young people are aware of is the zombie apocalypse, so the disaster preparation people are using that to help young people prepare for normal disasters, LOL.

I didn't even realize until it was half over that tonight was the season 5 premiere of "River Monsters" on Animal Planet channel. The second showing starts in 15 minutes of my posting, but I am sure the 2 hour premiere will be rerun again during the week. DH and I love this show. (eta: the title of the new ep is "Face Ripper".)

Top Chef: Canadia? Anyone watching? I have been and I love it. It's interesting that it's on Food Network CA.... I'm sure there are lots of subtle things about Canadia I don't get--like regional rivalries and stereotypes, etc--but it's been a blast to see so far. One thing that is different: the chefs drink more beer there than they do on Top Chef US. Here, they drink wine or cocktails....there, it's beer, with some wine and cocktails mixed in. (Nicole seems content to drink anything, anywhere)

Okay, I have a question, and I am in no way trying to offend anyway. My daughter has been watching "Preachers Daughters" and some other show on that channel about preachers wives. There have been several women who call themselves the "First Ladies" of the church (the pastor's wives). Is this a tradition in the more predominantly black-pastored churches? I've never heard the pastor's wife referred to, or, as in the case, refer to herself as the first lady. Or perhaps it is regional and happens in churches other than in my area, I don't know. Anybody know anything about this? I'm just curious because it was something new for me. Or perhaps it is just made up for television.

Did anyone watch the Chopped All Stars finale last night? Again, the chopped judge won. This time it was Scott, last time it was a chopped judge too but can't think of his name. I was rooting for M. Ali's daughter to win.

I stumbled across a new show on VH1. It's called Model Employee. It is a competition show where models are competing for a stint to be the Spokesmodel for Mandalay Bay casino in Vegas. The challenges have the models (who are self entitled, of course) doing tasks regular hotel employees do. The fist episode had them cleaning up a dirty banquet hall, and then later washing the dishes. Sounds interesting! I've also been watching Off Pitch, about a show choir in Lacrosse, WI. Also on VH1. I had to laugh at the most recent episode. Throughout their performance they kept showing audience members going in and out of the porto potties. Imagine, the world seeing you on TV heading in to do your business! LOL.

So I am watching Resale Royalty on Style Network. Why do some of these women talk with little baby voices? There aren't even any men in the room so who are they trying to seduce or whatever it is they think a baby voice accomplishes. I hate that!

I have been watching it, Lexie. I think it is an interesting, fun show. The sub shop episode was crazy. I don't think anyone ever caught the guy who was stocking up on ice and supplies. I know the one manager finally escorted him out, but I think the cooler was fully loaded. lol

It is a fun show. I loved the yogurt shop episode with that chick filling up those buckets full of yogurt and dumping all the toppings on top.

Anyone watched that Renovation Raider show? I like it, for once they showed an inspector there so that you don't wonder how they got everything approved so fast when it doesn't happen that way in real life.

Ya Lilfair I saw that on Lifetime as well. Another version of real housewives but with children and the one woman with the store and her lap dog friend (she was even wearing the same earrings) is the worst of the bunch. She was really backpedaling after saying her business came first.

To be fair there should be similar programs showing men to be as viscious and ignorant as the shows proliferating with all the so=called 'bitchy' women.

Mem, the male version would be interesting......I doubt there would be a high enough violent bend so the networks aren't going to be interested.

Two new shows on TNT last night. Hero's and 72 hours. They were quite good. Especially the 72 hour show. They put 9 people (3 teams on Fiji islands and they had to navigate themselves to find a hundred thousand dollars hidden somewhere. It was hidden in the water. I didn't explain it too well, but that's the general drift. real good show.

I watched 72 hours (Hero is on the PVR). The only thing for me was it seemed rather anti-climatic at the end. And I could have sworn the host said they all had to touch the briefcase together where it was found. Other than that not bad. Although they would never make it on Survivor. lol. Interesting to have teams of 3 total strangers.

Jasper, I thought they all had to dive into the water and touch the case but I guess we were wrong. I liked The Hero. If The Rock was standing at the top of a high rise calling me up, even with my extreme fear of heights, I'd go up!

LOL - Mamie on the Rock calling you. I believe I would forget my fears, too. I'm with you and Jasper. I could have sworn they said they all had to touch the case where it was found. Mameblanche - I agree with you, why always women on these types of shows? When they do bring the husbands around, they've shown they can be just as bad, just as catty and vindictive.

Anybody ever sit down randomly one morning and end up watching an episode of a "marathon" of shows and never get out of their pajamas? I watched an entire season of American's Next Top Model yesterday...from the 2nd episode to the finale...what a lazy Saturday! And I don't even watch that show normally. Tyra Banks is officially crazy.
