So what happens in Vegas (not to sound like Katy Perry)? Do the judges eliminate more people or does American vote?

Jimmer, the judges still have to eliminate more until we are down from the current top 40 to the top 20. Once we are down to 20, then the public starts voting.

I found the exact info over at MJ's. The first voting day is March 5. http://www.mjsbigblog.com/american-idol-12-official-schedule-live-voting-begins.htm

very confusing! SEMIFINALIST ROUNDS – PHASE ONE: LAS VEGAS In a new twist, the competition then moves to Las Vegas, where the Top 40 semifinalists will be split into males and females. Starting Wednesday, Feb. 20 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and continuing Thursday, Feb. 21 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), Wednesday, Feb. 27 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and Thursday, Feb. 28 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), 10 semifinalists will perform each night – males on Wednesday, females on Thursday – and the judges will be faced with the tough decision of choosing which five will stay each night and which five will be sent home. At the end of the first stage of the semifinals, only 20 contestants will remain.

Gldnlvr, to me it just sounds like two weeks where it "looks" like voting weeks, except it's only the judges that choose who goes home. Wed is the performance night, and Thurs the elimination nights.

Ooops, it looks like they eliminate the same night they perform. 10 perform each day and 5 of them go home each day. For 4 days. Then we will be down to final 20.

Pretty dumb to have 10 perform and then eliminate 5. What if one group of 10 is stacked with exceptional performers?

Jimmer, I suspect they already know their top 20 before they begin, then they set up each night for the most dramatic effect.

Yeah, they'll know and will have fixed it unless someone does something spectacular (or horrific). It might be nice to see it backfire on them though, if the second group all perform really badly ;).

Of the 5 that stayed tonight, I am just loving Kree. She's so sweet and a great singer.

It's still going on here, but that's ok. Now I can go watch Criminal Minds. My fault, I shouldn't have come in to see who likes who.

I'm sorry, Lazylu. I didn't mean to ruin anything for you. Since season 1, this board has always live spoiled the east coast showing.

Once it airs on the east coast, consider it spoiled. I fell asleep during last nights show so will watch it tonight.

Naja, thanks. I didn't know it spoiled after the east coast showing, I thought it was after the west coast showing. It's okay, it's no big deal.

All the shows in all the tvch sections spoil with East Coast when there are enough engaged viewers to do so. There are days where (as a West Coaster) I avoid the board altogether after 5pm! Not to mention avoiding twitter, and recently I even facebook too! I'm still at a point where I can't remember which name goes with which face, but I liked a lot of the choices last night, and thought some who did go really deserved to go. I didn't spot any egregious fixing but I'm still convinced they knew with very little doubt who they were going to choose!

Just to confirm, shows are freely discussed (including results) as the show and results are seen on the U.S. East Coast.

I liked some of the singers very much but not familiar enough to know who went through that I liked. I did note that one singer was dissed by only Nicki and the crowd booed her comments and then when Keith told this singer it was NOT unanimous and he fought for her, and she was out, the crowd booed again and I thought.. "Nicki".. but wasn't paying enough attention to run it back. Tonight we get Zoanette and I pray she is eliminated now, before Vote For the Worst gets to do their thing with voting. Opps, correction, guess we get the first half of the guys tonight? then Zoanette and the rest of the girls?

Does Ryan Seacrest wear a toupee? His hair looks higher in the front, more far head, and just strange!
