Fang girl, slap girl and manscape girl (seriously - she happens to have a pot of wax and gloves to manscape Brad? - of course since I dont know her name, maybe she already went home!)

I think Fang girl is there (and slap girl) by producers to produce some drama - because in the previews they all seemed reserve, and "nice"!

ITA that there was too much dumping on Brad in the beginning - but then it was "over" - so I thought much must have been producer prodded for the TV show...

2 min 30 sec video interview with Brad - as in most interviews I've seen him in, he talks about the show, and he truly seems happy - not evasive..

when he was on Jimmy Kimmel the "sex" question came up - and he did say zero. Again, he seems to allow himself to be vulnerable - as opposed to being "coy" and evasive that you usually see in these interviews... imho

It was definitely a night of punishment for Brad for not pledging his true love to the wrong girl the first time! LOL We were laughing the whole time last night...hubby finally got the concept of "train wreck" and seemed relieved that I was laughing and not taking it seriously.

My beloved Grandma used to love this show. My grandpa used to pick the winner the first or second night every season, and after he passed, she would always call me and tell me who she thought Grandpa would have picked. She was "sooooo mad" at Brad at the end of his season, and I think she would have been the type of viewer they were trying to appease last night. Beat the boy down good and humble him a bit before letting him at the new girls.

Brad and Chris Harrison have blogs out - (of course they dont spoil, but talk about the episode we just watched)

Chris:
http://popwatch.ew.com/2011/01/04/chris-harrison-the-bachelor-season-premiere-blog/

After our talk it was time for the 30 women to arrive. All Bachelors are nervous at this moment. This is when they finally realize, “Holy cow, I’m the Bachelor and this is really going to happen.” Despite having been there before, Brad was still anxious. He knew how it all worked but he had no idea what the women’s reactions were going to be. I should explain at this point that I usually watch the shows by myself the week before they air so I can write this blog and be ready to do any press interviews I have lined up to promote the show. This first episode was a little different. As some of you may have read on my Twitter page I decided to watch this first episode illegally (sorry ABC) with my family and friends over the holidays while I was home in Dallas. This gave me a whole different perspective on the show, as you’ll read below. I should warn you, yes there was wine involved in the viewing of this show. The first thing I learned watching this with family and friends (most of them women) is that there is a game you can play, toasting every time you see Brad without his shirt on. I quickly realized after two segments that this is not a good game to play if you’re trying to write a blog and stay awake through the end of the show.
and the slap:
If Brad was wondering how the women would react, all his fears were quickly realized when the first woman out of the limo, Chantal (not to be confused with Shawntel the funeral director), gave Brad a good slap across the face for all the women in America. Let me answer the questions my friends had. Yes, the slap was very, very real and no, Brad had no idea it was coming. He handled it much better than I would have and actually got a good laugh out of it.

My problem with the slap was the camera angle, first it was behind Chantel, then it was on the side and then you had a close- up of Brad and her hand - Now I have to say we watched MythBusters were Adam got slapped by Jaime (a myth about alcohol) THAT slap they showed it in slow mo - and you cant believe how that moved his jaw, skin face - Chantal's slap didnt even move Brad's face, so I think the sound was edited, and I think they used the footage and zoomed in - etc - (Brad did seem stunned, but I dont think it was a firm/hard slap)

Brad's Blog:
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20454653,00.html

Which brings me to ... THE SLAP. ABC has been running promos in order to grab the viewers' attention and to give a little insight as to what the new season holds. Well, as my luck would have it, "The Slap" was included on almost every single one of those damned promos! I have been asked about "The Slap" more times than I care to count. Let me answer some of the questions: YES, the slap was VERY real. NO, the producers did not add a sound effect to make it louder. Unfortunately, they didn't have to – Chantal O. has one hell of a right hook. And lastly, no, I did not know it was coming. My thoughts immediately afterward: "This is going to be a very long night." Thankfully, Chantal and I did clear the air a little bit later that evening.

alright, I agree that the punish Brad thing was really getting old...sick of it already. So he did not pick a girl...I give him credit for not picking someone just for the hell of it, or for game sake....

I usually dont watch this till it gets a few shows into it but Im watching this time early because one of the girls is from my town and actually went to school with my daughter...Shawntel is from Chico, Her family owns the main morturary here in town....if you die in this town, her family is prob gonna be the ones that 'take it from there'....its a family owned and run buisness and she is in the family buisness...I worked with her older sister for many yrs in my old job and seriously after listening to her storys .... I just want to be creamated. I could never do that kind of job....anyway, rummer here in town is that she goes far...but who knows.... Ill be watching to see.

Brad was on Kimmel. He did pick one of the girls and is very happy. It was easy to tell that Madison (Fang) is not going to be the final girl. He didn't come out and say it (and Kimmel didn't ask it), but I could tell by the way he phrased his words when talking about Madison.

Ok show, wow Brad was way nervous. I know they did it for drama, but I thought it was a bit ridiculous having Jenny and DeAnna on. I agree with Wowprincess "And I thought Deanna came off a bit pompous when she was brought out"

Brad and all the women seemed to have much more to say (than on previous seasons) at the initial meet when they came out of the limos.

I think Michelle made a really great first impression on Brad.

I thought the slap was really ridiculous. I do believe it was real and that Brad didn't know it was coming. I wonder if production told her to do that.

Omg, how did I miss this? I haven't missed a premier in years! Guess I've been distracted by all the holiday hoopla and getting my little guy back in school yesterday. Have to catch up online.

I agree with those of you who've said Brad was right not to pick anyone the first time. At first I felt cheated, but as I thought about it, if he's not really feelin' it, why should he get some poor girl's hopes up just to dump her a few weeks later? I'd rather see him do the honest thing and pick no one. I really respected him for that and for the heat he took because of it. Go, Brad!

Long blog by Chris H. He mentioned Michelle as well.

I thought the most awkward meet was the woman who wanted Brad to pinky swear that he wouldn't break her heart. To me, Brad seemed annoyed and a tiny bit aggressive when he grabbed her pinky and said for HER to swear she wouldn't break his heart.

Did anyone else notice this? Is she still there?

Wowprincess, I agree. My husband and I both said that he should get over it already and quit appologizing.

It looks like he's wanting someone with genuine feelings, but I do wonder about vampira.. acck There's something about her eyes when she looks at him. I don't get a genuine vibe.. but then I didn't like her teeth, so it's probably me.

I agree....it was definitely sounding like it was a show requirement for him to admit to major personal issues because he didn't pick someone last time. He didn't pick someone and so therefore is a commitment-phobe and owes an apology to the last two women for not falling in love with either of them...and also owes one to all women everywhere, whether he has met them or not! Gee!

I think he had to keep fang girl.. that was so disappointing.

I think he was hired to continuously apologize, which is pretty boring. Even if he had chosen someone, like the vast majority of bachelors or bachelorettes, they wouldn't still be together anyway.

The only thing I got right was his first rose girl.. right away I thought, she was going to get it, then wasn't sure but she did get it.

I think the apology was more for going on the show when he really wasn't ready to commit, but even that, maybe he didn't realize until he found himself.. unable to commit..

Manscape girl just killed me!!! Forcing him to let her pull the hair off of his arm was just stupid. Does she think that's endearing?

AND Fang girl...what can I say???

I don't think Bachelor Brad deserved to be slapped or to have hair pulled off his arm with hot wax.

The singing girl didn't impress me. I don't know if he kept her or not.

So many of these girls, again, seem very immature.

Poor Brad.

P.S. I swore I was not going to watch the show ever again. I actually enjoyed last night's show. I am glad I have no will power.

I agree. Despite or maybe because of the show's tackiness, I enjoy it immensely.

ROFLOL - what can I say? I'm bored? I read that last night's ratings were really low! I know I had to miss quite a bit of the first hour (dinner was delayed due to dh's homebrewing beer! 45 min turned into 1 1/2 hours!!)

I love how we are defining the girls!! Singing girl - I heard that! Didnt brad say he gave her props if she came up with that on the spot? ROFLOL

and Emily (the one with a child, the father died in a plane crash - he was Ricky NASCAR person) I was shocked at how YOUNG she is!! I do think Brad does need someone older, and it does seem like he is sincere in wanting a family - but will he find true love on a TV show?

that I dont buy! I do find it all entertaining!! and so I watch!

Count me in watching tacky! LOL There's really not much else to watch anyway. I was also surprised at how young Emily is. I think they picked way too many girls who are young since he's 37. Maybe Emily is more mature than other 24-yr-old girls having to deal with tragedy when she was so young as well as being a mom. I'm always surprised at how young some of the women are, esp. since I compare them to my daughters and other girls their age that I know.

Have you seen the reports that slap girl is being investigated for "abuse"? Seriously! maybe its from the teen mom that was arrested for hitting her baby daddy over and over again in front of the child that has a ridiculous sense of "abuse"... Brad has stated many times, it wasnt a big deal and he doesnt want to see her prosecuted...

well, as I see it - if slap girl gets slapped with a summons, aughtened manscape girl get a summons for cruel and unusual punishment as well??

just sayin

(and honestly I shouldnt make light of a serious situation - I'm glad they have arrested teen mom for abuse - she should be charged - if a man hit her on TV like she hit Gary - OR if Gary had hit her back (with less intensity, but still - he'd be in jail! as he should be!)

Hey all, I didn't see a link to this on the home page or in the other shows index... had a hard time finding it.

Anyway... super pleased to see not everyone thinks Brad should be nailed to the cross. I was actually disappointed to see that not only is the backlash still alive, but Brad himself seems to believe he did something awful by walking away single in his first season. There's something a little vacant about Brad that keeps me from really digging him personally, however with that said, he is nonetheless my fav of all the Bachelors simply because he had the balls to walk away when he knew it wasn't right. It's obvious he made the right decision -- both ladies are with other people now and we all know the track record for relationships on the Bachelor anyway -- so I really never did see what the big deal was. And... to see Deanna, the same woman who dumped Jessie as soon as the cameras turned off, acting self righteous and sitting in judgment as skeptical of Brad's process... it was simply nauseating. Just had to get that off my chest...

I think the backlash has to do with how he let the women go - it could've been handled differently -but it was for ratings and "the show" for that it seems silly that there continues to be backlash - but again, I think that Brad talking about his past and going into therapy just adds to the discussion...

but I hope they drop it already! I'm looking forward to the storylines they've developed!

I don't think Deanna dumped Jesse as soon as the show was over. I thought they dated for about six months before breaking up. I saw an interview where Deanna said she wish she had the guts on her show to not pick anyone and avoid making a mistake.

I just looked up the dates. Her Finale aired around July 8th, and they announced their breakup publicly Nov 3rd.

It might not be right after the Finale, but pretty close.
