I vaguely remember that there was a gay Bachelor show a couple of years ago on cable TV. I don't remember it lasting very long.

I remember that one, Lexie. It was a gay "bachelor" (I think) and a bunch of guys who were supposed to be gay, but some of them weren't. He was supposed to weed out the ones who weren't gay. It was a trainwreck. Got canceled before the season was even over.
While trying to find a link to that other show (there were actually a couple of them, including one where a bachelorette has to choose from a pool of guys, some of whom are straight and some gay), I found this about an upcoming show hosted by Lance Bass:

One of the tabloid magazines.. In Touch.. claims that Ryan Lochte is "in talks" to be the bachelor or on the Bachelorette.. I'd doubt he would be the bachelor without prior experience but who knows.
They did paint him as obnoxious and a womanizer. (actually they said "womanizing, selfish, arrogant jerk" about Lochte.
Of course first he does DWTS. And DWTS is featuring him with a semi shocked voide in the promo.
So.. look for Nick to try for DWTS next ;)
Rupertbear there IS a same sex one going now or starting..
It is on LOGO.. I'm trying to see where I read it.. apparently the guy looking for a mate is a former male escort, which came out.. and isn't in any magazine I have but perez Hildon has it and other sites. Lance Bass is host, there will be 13 eligible men for bachelor Robert Sepulveda Jr. Finding Prince Charming is the name.

FYI... they are now filming the video intros. When they film the Bachelor, there is a couple of weeks between announcing who it is and when they start filming. When they film the Bachelorette, they start within days of naming who it is on ATFR.

I haven't watched it yet but I have it recorded and I'm planning to watch it. A combination of not feeling well (the flu) and a bit of a Christmas vacation hangover. I think it will be an entertaining season.

Ariasmum, I'm watching (actually a few of us are) but we tend to chat in the spoiler section since we know what has happened on the show as far as the dates go and who his final pick is. This way we don't have to worry about spoiling for those that don't know what is going on.

I just watched and I'm looking forward to the season. It will take me at least another episode to get whose who. They tend to blend together at first, except of course for the villians and the kooky ones. I'll be chatting in here I don't want to know who goes when or who he ends up with ahead of time.
