It really is both surprising and sad. i remember her as being sweet. Forgive me for being curious about what happened...

All of the news sites, including the links above to People and TMZ have been updated to state it was suicide. She was found unresponsive by her boyfriend.

TMZ also said that she had a rocky relationship with her boyfriend. I never had a sense that she was a strong person. I can remember watching her on Bachelor Pad and thinking that her confidence was derived from how other people viewed her and that she felt she needed a boyfriend to complete her. It's so very sad that she felt she needed to take this path to stop the pain.

Kooklie, I got that feeling from seeing her on BP also. That her self esteem was tied up in her dating relationships.

Hanging? well, shoot. removes any question as to whether it might have been accidental. poor thing. i would imagine a person would need to be in a pretty desperate place to undertake suicide by hanging. very sad.

Suicide/depression/mental health issues are serious medical conditions. Affordable and easy access to health care for these need to be more readily available. RIP and heart felt sorrow to her family and the friends that loved her.

Very sad to think a beautiful girl like that on the pinnacle of reality fame and possible career would even attempt something so drastic. Young girls need to realize they all are special and beauty, fame, and fortune isn't everyone's answer.
I think she was all heart and loved so deeply she couldn't coexist with heartache. RIP sweet Gia.
