I have been here since the very first Big Brother, and there was some sort of politics topic. I never went there, but I recall Elitist and Ocean Islands arguing, I mean discussing, there endlessly. It all seemed rather boring, so I only dropped in there every now and then to see if they had quit, but they were still at it. Those were the days when the board. although mostly polite, was very lightly modded, if at all.

There is a thread for The War on Terrorism in that screenshot. I would think it could have included politics. Undoubtedly it started on 9/11.

Yes, it was about the War on Terror.
It was started *specifically* because 9/11 happened during BB, and to move those posts out of the BB area and into another thread.
It was about 9/11.
The News and Views area was started in 2003. I recall because I was part of the discussion about whether we should even HAVE such an area. And many discussions in the following years about whether it was a bad idea to have it because a LOT of people did not like it and wanted it gone.
And Elitist and OI were around in 2003 also.
But the point was that if we discussed hanging chads it wasn't in 2000. That was the first year of the Board and there was no such area then.

FYI, the site is acting whacky again, like when it went down last week. I get the message that it timed out because the site wouldn't respond, then I reload and sometimes it reacts quickly and sometimes it doesn't.

Was just wondering about the members room thread. It says you have to open up a thread for yourself but the message on the bottom says that it's closed to new threads.
Is this just through BB time or am I missing something?

Firebird, once you click into the folder that your own thread would fit in, you can create one. You just can't do it on the main page.
