Honestly, Earthmother, I don't think his use of "right" is a conscious attempt to manipulate. Like I've said before, I see it as a bad verbal habit, like using like or um.
If it was a conscious attempt, he would do it in a more targeted way, instead of at the end of every sentence. Like in your example with parents. JMO.

I do not dislike Hisam as much as a lot of you seem to. He was playing the game. It is week 3, alliances still forming, he was talking, assessing. I do believe he would have been loyal to The Professors.
He annoys the crap out of me, but I do not think he was doing anything but playing the game. I do not see him as narcissistic. A bit manipulative maybe. We may not like how he was doing it, but he was playing.
A lot more than a few of the others.
AND he was my preseason pick to win HAHAHAHHAH
I do wish I could pick over.

Yeah he is cocky, but he didn't really lie or back door anyone. This eviction seems really cruel to me for no reason. Would have been nice instead to just talk to him about how he comes off

I don't hate Hisam, but I do hate how he treated Reilly. People on BB SAY NAMES. She was HOH, of course she is going to name possible HGs that she might put up. Didn't seem like it deserved that amount of vitriol.
It just seemed like an irrational hatred of her, like he had for Cory for a while.
I must admit, when I saw him get all teary-eyed on the bike earlier, I felt bad for him. And I do wish that he was told how he made his fellow HG feel. I don't know why they don't tell him. They probably don't know how, which is sad.

Vegan, that's when I saw Hisam tear up after Felicia left. He was holding back tears, and I don't like to see anyone in pain, even if I don't like them.
I wish someone would bring up Reilly and point out how he became a dictator. At least give him that insight.

Hisam was my early favorite as well. However, the way he treated Reilly as well as his Veto speech - it was totally unnecessary - changed my mind.
I get he is playing a game but I also think he is not a very nice person to those he doesn't think can help him. (Probably a lot of people like that.)
His recent behavior that stands out in my mind and, to me, now defines him was his conversation with America wherein he repeatedly, and nastily, said he NEVER said the word 'leftover' to define a group of them. I was happy that America was steadfast in saying to him that he DID use that word. She even prefaced it with that she couldn't repeat word for word what he said but she does know he absolutely used the word 'leftover' and explained why. I felt that at the end of their conversation, Hisam accepted he must have said the word. (I thought when he first denied it, I thought he was absolutely lying about it but by the end I was convinced that he just didn't remember saying it.)
However, later on when he was talking to another HG (perhaps he did it to more than one) he said America was lying and he did NOT say that word. So I am back to that he knows he said it and depending on who he is talking to he will either call America a liar or won't even bring it up.
He is a master manipulator whether he is using the word "right" to gaslight or not.

I would likely agree Hisam just has a pattern of speech, maybe a habit or OCD thing… however… right after veto, he was making his rounds & when he said “right?” at the end, if the other person didn’t say “right,” he would say it louder/more assertive: “right?!” I specifically remember Jared would NOT say it, he mumbled “mmm hmm…” Hisam says it when it’s his opinion, not fact. But he wants the other person to say “right,” so as to seem as if they agree with, rather than just verifying they heard/understood. I think it’s a tactic.

Cory and Jared in the SR. Jared wants to get rid of Red and Cameron.
Cory telling Jared how many alliances Cirie and Izzy have with everyone in the house. Named everyone except America and mentions that America is the only one not in Izzy and Cirie's alliance. Sounding frustrated.
This could be a very dangerous conversation for Cory.

Cory tells Jared that Cirie and Izzy are their closest allies, and they want to put up their allies (Cory & Jared's) America and Blue.
Saying, if we got HOH, we wouldn't put up Felicia, because she is close to Cirie and Izzy. But they are wanting to put up people close to us.

Sassy and Calimom I agree. I think it is a pattern of manipulation. I am not diagnosing anything, but from experience of 25 years working with at risk teens and adults in roles that include behavioral issues, I see the pattern, and it does trigger me to think this way. I do feel sorry for him because he is clueless to his own actions that cause people to see him this way. I am not sure he is really capable of self-reflection honestly. He will tell them what he thinks they want to hear, but not change, he more or less blows it off and just repeats his spiel. By constantly saying the same thing over and over and over, he believes they will at some point see it his way. Gaslighting 101.

Cory- I'm just so annoyed. You can't have this many dumb ass fake alliances. Jared- You can have as many fake alliances as you want but you can't actually try to be loyal to them. Cory- You know why they (Cirie/Izzy) are putting up America? It's the only person they are not in an alliance with.
Jared is going to rat out this entire conversation.

Listening to Hisam and Fel. I get while he is hurt....why didnt the alliance tell him to chill out like they do Izzy and anyone else that needs it?? Its weird to me. He IS annoyng, but so is most everyone else in the house. I think he is going to feel complete betrayal when he finds about Cirie and Jared. The decks are stacked against everyone else in the house. Cirie is SO GOOD, everyone else should have an advantage. I hope the other side (who ever that is) wins hoh and they realize they needed him to help win. So dumb to cut hi early because is is a pompus a**.
