I hope I don't regret this... I signed up for P+... we'll see if I get dragged into this.. or if it turns out that it's all about people 40 years younger than me.. because then I'll probably be cancelling pretty quickly.

Just to make us feel even more ancient, it was TWENTY years ago that we first met the greatest BB player of all time: Dr. Will Kirby.

You’re welcome.

Hi Mara! I believe that once the live feed starts after the west coast airing, there will be a link to the live feeds in the BB area of Paramount +

I love all the preseason nonsense, rumors, craziness. Boy it is so quiet out there, it is hard to believe it all starts in 10 days. I want my RUMORS!!

US Weekly article:

Big Brother 23' Twists: Producers Tease Teams and 'High Stakes'

It was mentioned in the article that the live feeds will start the night after the premiere, but the premiere will be live.

Yay, first disappointment of the season already. It was previously reported that feeds would start after the west coast airing. Ugh!

The twist will be a team thing instead of duos, but this sounds like a recycled twist, ie: camp counselors

They say its a “beach/vacation” theme, but then also talked about a Vegas/gambling type theme.

I feed like they’re all over the place, and don’t know what they’re doing. 🙄

More info:

https://parade.com/1228337/mikebloom/big-brother-23-twists-allison-grodner-rich-meehan/

There will be a Wildcard comp that involves one member each of the three teams that aren't safe via the HOH (and the teams will pick who does it). The winner (ONLY the winner, not the team) can decide to be immune for the week in exchange for a punishment that could involve them, their team, or the entire house...

(and a double-or-nothing offer? That sounds to me like the HOH might be given the chance to personally win a million instead of $500K but they have to do something other than just getting into the F2- maybe they have to get one of the other three members of their team in the F2 with them or similar?)

More clarification:

Some clarifiers on the #BB23 team twist:
-Teams last for 4 weeks
-Captains are chosen from who wins a comp in each move-in group of 4
-Captains will watch 90-second preseason videos of the HGs before drafting their team
-HoH's team is safe for the week

This was tweeted by someone who writes for Parade magazine.

It appears that BB Twitter is very unhappy with the team thing.

As am I. 🤨

Geeze, if they were going to use old ideas, why can’t they bring back FOOD COMPS?! I would actually watch a tv episode if they did that.

I am unsure about this team thing - if a guy is a team captain - he will probably pick all guys for his team. It seems like they are trying not to have a big alliance.

What would be really interesting is if the HG given the offer is told “If yourself and a teammate are in the F2 and you win you get $1million. But if your last teammate is voted out, that person stays in and you’re evicted in their place- even if it puts that person in the F2 over you….”

Wilson, I think you’re giving them too much credit. They’re not capable of coming up with anything complicated.

They can’t even come up with a format change, and think they should get a medal for casting 50% POC.

I really wish they would fire both Alison and Rich. They are so boring and tired. We need some new blood.

Mystic, this is my thought as well. Whichever jock guy wins out of their foursome will just pick other jock guys.

Big twist! Jock guys who win the first comp usually wind up aligning with other jock guys. Now, on BB23, production set it up in a way for them to align immediately!

I'm not going to be concerned until we see the cast- there might not be enough alpha-types to form a team.

Besides there are a couple of different ways to help cut the problem down:

-Easiest way to go is set up the heats so that in the worst case the alpha-types are all captains; that way they can't team up offically.

-You can also say a team must be 2 male/2 female (assuming it's a 8-8 split), that can help a little bit since you won't have an all-guy team.

-You could also decide who picks when by chance; if the teams form bad you we at least blame fate.

-The most complicated way (but perhaps the fairest) is to set up a snake draft; the captains would pick one of 4 sets of pick sequences at random:

A-1-8-9
B-2-7-10
C-3-6-11
D-4-5-12

Captain A will get the best person overall, but will have to then wait for 6 other people to be picked before they pick again; but they'd then get the best two out of the last five to complete their team.

Captain B will get the 2nd best person overall, and only has to wait for 4 picks before their second choice- and they get to pick their last person from the last three.

Captain C will get the 3rd best person overall, but only has to wait for 2 picks before their 2nd choice, and is able to choose between the last two.

Captain D will get the 4th and 5th best people overall; but gets the downside of being stuck with the last person of the 12.

(a downside though is you really can't do a strict 2 male/2 female team with this; people will want to pick the best person available.)

However, the most important thing is whoever the captains are they'll only have the intro videos and whatever they were able to see of the others in the first comp to go on- it's going to be highly subjective in any case...

Wilson, first of all, I must say how much I admire and appreciate your analytical mind. You break it down so that even I can understand it! haha!

I read a little more from the Mike Bloom (Parade) article and what stood out to me was this:

"Wildcard Competition," it'll give 3 houseguests (one from each team) the ability to win safety, at a cost to themselves, their team, or the rest of the house."

So this makes me want to take back my earlier comment about the 'complication' thing....cause this seems kinda complicated now. But..."THREE houseguests, one from each team"? How many HG, then? Hmmmm....

The cast reveal is supposed to be tomorrow...that will tell us a lot. Like wouldn't it be crazy if there were no jock-type guys? Fantasy, I know. lol

I have read a couple of places there are 18 houseguests. So that makes 6 on a team, that is a large team.

Rose- the comp involves the three teams who don’t win the HOH (HOH’s team is automatically safe).

Those three teams will pick one player from their squad to play (which doesn’t make a ton of sense, because only the winning player is safe, not the team- I guess it’s to try and possibly avoid the penalty by having the winner pass up safety?)

I just saw this:

hamsterwatch #bb23
@hamsterwatch
· 5h
we've got some #BB23 info:
-beach/casino theme
-four teams of four, for four weeks

So some conflicting info, 16 players with teams of 4, 18 players with teams of 6.

ok so 16 players, 4 teams of 4, 3 teams pick someone to play in the new comp, the team of the HOH does not play'

I think I get it LOL

I think people are confused because of the new comp wording.

It’s 4 teams of 4. Whoever wins HOH not only is safe, their entire team is safe.

The three teams left will pick one member each to play the new comp. Whoever wins is potentially safe- and only that person, NOT the other team members.

The person knows there’s a punishment/penalty attached to being safe. It could affect just them, just their team, or the whole house. They can avoid the consequences by giving up their guaranteed safety.
