So, I just watched my recording again, of the beginning of the comp. The pulleys can move apart, but watched Tommy do a full split with his legs and then pull his legs back together, by pulling down on his hands.
So, they do have some individual control on how it works, because the lines from their hands are connected to the foot holds.

It just seems to me that wrapping the ropes around your lets to keep them from spreading when everyone else's do is an unfair advantage.
But maybe thats just because I hate Jackson

I am going to go back and find it later - at one point Holly had the cord the same way as Jack and took BOTH hands off the hand grips.... Jackson is not cheating - and his legs are probably killing him #bb21

I don't think the ropes are wrapped all the way around Jackson's legs I think he just has them coming straight down the groin, kind of behind the knee over the calf and then connected at the toe

it seems that most people have the leg ropes on the outside of their leg where as Jackson has the ropes coming down and on the inside of his leg so that when he closes his legs he's putting pressure against the ropes
