Just curious, is Anyone out there watching this China Rush? I find it curious & am enjoying myself. Back in my early 20's I lived 5 yrs with a Chinese-American man, total control freak (thank heavens we split but that's another story).
BUT, this poor schmuck that got eliminated, I felt so sorry for. I've never seen on ANY race where the team took TWO (yes, 2!, even if they were 2hours) penalties "we quit, we quit". Everything he suggested "the clocks, the clocks" was totally overruled by his overbearing & inept Mother. Why did she even come on the race, except to show her son he was a "loser"? He seemed young and, of course, very respectful. Which was why they lost.
It's quite interesting to see more spots in the China landscape, these teams are QUITE aggressive.

And dang it! They would have found it faster to readjust the couple of puzzle pieces on the table than just quitting to take 2 HOURS off. Dumb in any direction.

Yeah, it was a well-deserved elimination.
It's a bit strange how the Asian versions of the Race seem to have stronger women teams.

Thanks Spear, you got it early this week! Great fun, whew. I love the challenges and the scenery.
Sad at the ones that were eliminated, but they were totally graceful in their exit.

I thought the best line of the show was, after they kept finding the SAME fruit instead of the variety they had to deliver from digging in the sand:
"Can we eat one?" Watching him slurp that fruit, then later splayed out on the sand. This China Rush has a LOT of subtle humor. What a fun race, even while intense.

BTW, with these overseas TARs especially, since I stay logged in on Youtube I make it a point to rate each YT segment as "Liked". I don't know if it helps to boost their ratings, but (just in case) I sure wish to keep them coming.

In case anyone is 'thinking' about stepping in to watch the China Rush, they do make it easier in terms of language. Several of the people speak English (seems like some Canadians, New Zealanders, or USA people that have moved over there for years). When they speak English the subtitles are in Chinese. When they speak Chinese the subtitles are in English.
I highly recommend, this is another great race!

I agree, this leg had some good tasks. I don't know if we've ever seen the kind of negotiations that went on during the Detour, including the bartering and the decision to switch tasks ("We'll both switch so we can't take each other's fruits"). It was also interesting to see the women do well at an eating Roadblock and some guys having to get creative at opening the clams.
Did you notice how, unlike in other Races, they allow the teams to use private transportation? I almost thought that one team was going to abandon the little boy when his mother was a little late in bringing her car!

Yes, I was startled about the private transportation, maybe China Rush is more relaxed about 'potential liabilities' & car insurance issues.
Actually had to back up and rewatch the part with the little boy to have it really sink in. The woman actually ran off leaving her kid by the side of the road - just to give a free ride to some strangers!?! Maybe seeing the camera crews makes people lose all common sense.

Okay, I watched again. Confusing WRT the u-turn. But basically the take that I got 2nd time around was:
Summer & Eagan knew they wouldn't be able to complete, due to the Grandparent having reoccurring cancer & need to go home.
- They S/E ended up using the U-turn on an "upteam" to negate anyone behind them being able to use it on another team coming behind them. They gave the 'ol standbye speech of 'we really didn't want to UT You but we needed'. (Which was why I got so confused!)
- They stepped back from the mat until all other teams had arrived - so that another team didn't have to get eliminated - since they knew they were already forced to leave.
Kiddos to Eagan for knowing what matters in life and also to Summer for supporting him!!! Nice way they did their exit!!!!
I'm really enjoying this China Rush, pretty exhausting to watch (such brutal challenges) but seriously interesting.

Yes, I guess it was a non-confrontational way of using a U-Turn -- don't piss off another team but don't let anyone use it on your "alliance".
The other weird thing was the two teams deciding to step on the mat together even though they knew they were last. I guess they wanted to leave it to the producers to decide their fate. Quite a different mentality.

I think, given all three girls' tears and crying, (when S/E later had to step up to the mat) I think those two teams (both ?alliances?) already knew what was going to happen beforehand. Also, the guy's girlfriend telling him after seeing the UT 'we just have to trust him' (E/S).
ESPECIALLY when they saw S/E standing on the side as they came running in. They could afford to step onto the mat simultaneously, because they already knew they weren't going home.

Thanks for the links. I'm wondering about the starting times -- all of them started within about an hour of each other. I thought the two-hour penalties would have more of an effect. Also, the last two teams were separated by 14 minutes, even though they stepped on the mat together. Looks like there were some unseen time penalties/credits.

Yes, but at least with the Non-Elim the Older Guys have a chance. They spent ?1hr? dealing with the pics of the mountains. They may not be the most physical of the teams, but they don't give up & never complain or beat each other up. I kinda like them (in case nobody has guessed).
