First Impressions?
The ClubHouse: Love Cruise: First Impressions?
Sassyangiee | Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 07:36 pm I've got it on now. And im not sure just what i think about this so far. I do know however its more appealing to me than Temptation Island was last year. I feel a whole lotta nastiness is gonna come out very early in this game. could be appealing or revolting ...guess we'll just have to see |
Admin | Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 07:39 pm I thought it was good. They didn't just pick model types, there are some interesting and varied characters that seem to already be interacting and building some relationships that should prove to be fun to watch. I'm also thinking they need to think about alliances or Anthony and Laura will take it all! |
Penpoint | Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 08:51 pm Of course, Anthony and Laura could have a falling out, be attracted to others, have someone come between them or in some way poison their relationship. So I wouldn't put too much stock in first couplings. I'm not sure how alliances would work on this show--I would think it is more how popular you are with everyone that counts. Anyway, I really liked this show. |
Misslibra | Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 09:10 pm I had a feeling Gina wouldn't last long because she was sick. She sure didn't like Toni, which is probably more to do with Toni getting the guy she wanted. But she definitely had a thing about fake breast. I wonder if deep down inside she wouldn't mind having some herself. She seemed a little bit jealous to me. And I also thought it was funny that Gina was trying to save Bob, I think that is his name, even though he sure wasn't trying to save her... Lisa and Michael, I think that is his name, would make a cute couple. Next show airs tomorrow... |
JimmyLegs | Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 09:12 pm I like it so far. After watching BB2, I have decided they took the BB2 gang and put them on this cruise ship. I think I'll start a thread about it. Might be interesting. I would love to know what you think about it. |
Admin | Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 09:16 pm Good call MissLibra, I agree! Gina wants some augmentation. I'll be watching tomorrow... Jimmy: start another thread..go for it! |
Tuffycat | Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 10:04 pm i like it so much better than temptation island..maybe because these people are even slightly more sickening..lol i knew gina would go, cause she was sick.and they always cut the sick ones..and i was especially glad he was kicked off..so far so good |
Mssilhouette | Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 10:33 pm Okay until I know the names of these folks I'll just be describing them with by attributes or personas. Kenny G guy and Sick girl w/ hat needed to go. Big booby girl seems to be there simply for that fact. 1) She's not tough as she wants to be seen and that clip with her yelling at that girl was purely for intimdation but I noticed that the girl didn't flinch at all..So I can't wait to see what that's about. The "no body picked me no body likes me I'm smart and they're slutty" girl (Ie the one who started crying for no reason)is going to be the emotional one of the cruise. Okay #1 its a game #2 those women are there to screw with your head. #3 if you don't have a lot of self confidence then why the he*l would you go on this show...SHEESH! The dorky guy who bunked with the prim girl. He's gone next. Sorry but he was picked just for booting off-ability. The loud obnxious (eddie from BB1 type) guy is going to get on people's nerves until about mid game where someone will kick him out. The...well the black /people of color on the boat - apparently there are 2 girls and one guy. The girls seem to be far less interested in that guy and frankly he seems annoying. The guy with the tattos and very bad poetry will go after all the girls are done figuring out what a lame guy he is. The rest of the pretty girls and guys are basically that I don't have much of an impresson of them. It'll be interesting to see how much self esteem will get trashed and how low the guys will go to play on emotions. Apparently everyone cries at the drop of a freaking hat on this ship. |
Juju2bigdog | Tuesday, September 25, 2001 - 11:14 pm The trailers for the coming show were better than tonight's show. Wonder if that will be a pattern? |
Spinnaker | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 05:34 am I loved Ralph's answer to the truth/dare question, picking Lisa as the girl he'd like to sleep with - just what she needed for sure! Melissa's the sleeper - she'll lay low and slide through a few evictions. If Toni stays long, it'll say a lot for the character of the guys - ugh - what a big plastic bleep! I can see everyone getting real sick real fast of her and Jeanette's fighting so the two of them are marked for early evictions. The girls will grow to love Adrian - first impressions about his cockiness will be squashed once they get to know him - no one can stay cocky in that crowd for long. Michael will last for a while - he'll be the non-threat-we-can-get-rid-of-him-anytime passenger (sound familiar?) Anthony's just got to go! He'll probably drag Laura out with him. It was funny to watch Tony trying to console the weepy Lisa - he didn't know what to say! He'll remain afloat for several evictions - so long as he stays away from Toni-boobs! I just hope evictions don't remain "paired" - that would be really boring. They need to split up couples frequently! Either way, things will definitely heat up - talk about close quarters - they be at each other's throats constantly!! (007) |
Floridagirl | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 06:02 am I actually liked it! At first I wasn't sure but after seeing the previews it's going to get more interesting Not that I have fake boobs but I honestly don't see anything wrong with it...people get plastic surgery, tummy tucks etc...so why not do something that makes you feel better about yourself? I was with her on that one |
Enbwife | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 06:36 am I liked it... I'm glad Gina got voted off. She annoyed me. I think Tony is actually quite nice. Women can be so catty some times. Lisa suffers from low self esteem which is too bad since she is quite attractive. It will be interesting to watch how this show unfolds. Episode 2 is on tonight 9:00 eastern on Fox. |
Rachelinsc | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 08:26 am I loved this show!!! I am going to miss the Amazing Race tonight to watch Love Cruise again. Even my husband liked it. I felt really sorry for Lisa at first, but then I thought "she is complaining about the guys going for the women with the biggest breasts, so why is she going for the best-looking guys herself?" Her roommate, Michael, was perfectly nice, successful, mildly attractive--actually just the kind of man she claimed was looking for when the show began. I can't stand it when women do this, fall for men who are emotionally unavailable when the perfect guy is right under their nose. |
Joybot | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 09:14 am Does anybody know under what circumstances a contestant can come back to resume the game? From the previews it looks like they call at least one person back. |
Rachelinsc | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 09:19 am Joybot, The method for bringing contestants back is not listed in the rules; it just says they may be called back. BTW, there's a great summary of last night's show here, done by Michael. http://www.lovecruisesinks.com/lovecruisesinks/ |
Jimmylegs | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 09:25 am Rachel, OMG, I just started a new thread with the Link for LoveCruiseSinks.com I had NO IDEA you already posted it!!! I really apologize to you!!! I was so freaked out to find out Michael was NOT the quiet shy guy he appeared that I couldn't wait to post the link for everyone to read. |
Jimmylegs | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 09:26 am Rachel, I'm missing the Amazing Race too. This Love Cruise just caught my fancy big time. I bet this is going to be one crazy show. And we thought Nicole could bit*h!!! hahahaha |
Rachelinsc | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 09:28 am Jimmylegs, I think what you did is better, makes the link easier to find, so don't apologize!!! I thought Michael's summary was hilarious, maybe kind of mean, but the show's mean, and he did not treat himself any better than he treated the others. He was brutally honest. I love this show. Let's keep this message board busy!! |
Jimmylegs | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 09:32 am Thanks Rachel, I didn't get the link to work. I did something wrong. I asked the moderators to delete it. But we can always start another Links thread and maybe YOU can do it, so it turns out right this time. hahahaha Teach me your ways Oh Mistress Rachel, I'm damn dumb in this internet stuff. hahahaha |
Rachelinsc | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 10:30 am Jimmylegs, I don't know why mine works and yours didn't. I just copied the address from the page where the story was!!! I WOULD like to pretend that I am an Internet expert though, so continue to flatter me ... |
Mindyrama | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 10:46 am well, I found my way over here..I'm so glad this is here. I needed a new 'game' now that BB is over and people to discuss it with..that's what I do at work all day. It keeps me sane. Actually my initial thoughts on fake boobie Toni (with an 'i')were much the same as Gina's, and I thought Gina was bitter, but funny. By the end I was pretty happy to see sourgrapes Gina go, and started to respect Toni. I really liked the part when she was telling Lisa how gorgeous she was..she really wanted to help Lisa feel good about herself, and she even felt bad about kicking off the one person who was mean to her...that made a good impression on me. But we'll see what happens. My opinion could change again after tonight! LOL! I'm most like Lisa, I'd be too insecure for that show. There's no way I'd EVER compete over guys. I'd just be there for the cool cruise! I couldn't have done that whole pick a guy game..how humiliating! |
Rachelinsc | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 11:07 am Mindyrama, Glad you made it over here. I agree that there are some very humiliating aspects to that game. I don't think Lisa belongs there: she's too sensitive. What was she thinking when she signed up for it? Got to disagree with you about Toni. I think she is nothing but trouble, although I DON'T understand what the big deal is about the implants. LOTS of women have them (I don't, but then I am a chicken when it comes to pain), so what's all the fuss about? I was glad to see Gina go finally. I don't know why she was so upset that Darin picked Toni over her. Surely no one went on that show thinking they would NEVER experience rejection of any kind. Even if you're gorgeous, you're not going to be everyone's favorite. |
Bogus | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 12:01 pm But Toni's boobs are HUGE. Are the size of the boobs you buy indirectly proportional to your self-esteem or maybe your IQ? |
Mindyrama | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 12:19 pm I dunno, Toni is trouble, but she showed me she had a heart..like I said though, it's a wait and see thing. I could hate her tomorrow... just like my feelings about the BB HG's went back and forth. Personally I don't agree with breast implants and can't help but lose a little respect for someone who gets them (unless it's reconstructive)...having said that, to each their own. I would never take this choice away from someone, or put them down because of it. Everyone has their own opinion on it, and I think everyone has to make their own choices. The thing is, most people can be mean and catty, and I can be as mean and catty as the next person. But you need to know when to draw the line. Gina crossed it. She just got mean-spirited and bitter. That ain't gonna fly on reality television. You gotta push those thoughts away, and keep your mouth shut. Don't these people watch these shows??? You'd think they'd learn! |
Mssilhouette | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 01:30 pm As far as the breast implant issue goes. I agree with the idea that Toni gave but the point is no one has to make their implants so large. There are plenty of women who have implants but you wouldn't really notice the difference. If you're an A cup and go to a C cup the change is noticable but I doubt they would look huge. Toni breasts were probably not that small to begin with and to add to them to the amount she did then there is obviously an esteem problem and from what I'm seeing of her behavior so far it seems that those problems haven't vanished with the addition of the implants. There are some women who do use implants to boost their confidence and I say more power to them. There are others who use it to hide their low self esteem. Toni uses them simply for attention getting. Okay she gets the attention so now what is she going to do with it? She's a personal trainer, umm yeah okay..if you're into fitness then breast size doesn't really matter. But if all you want to do is get attention there are better ways than just increasing your bust line. C'mon now! I think Toni needs to stop evaulating her worth based up on the male attention she gains. But we'll see more of her personality later on. As is seen in the bug eyed clip for tonight's show. Oh you have to read the show summary by one of the contentants Michael, it's hilarious, and very cynical. |
Realfan | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 02:47 pm Michael is definitely a cynical guy. I used to visit the board where he's posting his summaries (acutally, it's companion board, SurvivorSucks.com) during Survivor II days. Very opinionated guy... Now we see a new side--an insecure side... I think he took the rejection well. But I also don't think much of his "strategy" being staying up later than anyone else. That's naive. If people like you, and you're the first to go to bed, they'll miss you. If they don't, being the last person awake won't do you any good. He reminds me of guys in school who secretly longed to be part of the in crowd, but hid it by expressing scathing opinions of everyone and everything (as reflected in his synopsis). Michael balances that with his own self-deprecation, though, which is nice. As for the others, I really like Lisa. Toni called it right--she has class. As for Toni's implants... She could learn from Confucious--"Everything in Moderation." I actually started to like her before the end of the show, and once I got past her tremendous Double D's! |
Kitt | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 04:28 pm When I saw the trailers for the show I thought there was no way I'd watch it... then there was nothing else on and I was alone so I did! I really quite liked it. Much better than Temptation Island as they're all single. I didn't like Gina at all, glad she went, she's way too quick to judge other people. Toni clearly has big problems she's trying to overcome (that's not a pun) but she seems very nice at heart. Not sure about the freaky intimidation clip though... if she starts that she's a gonna I think. I like Lisa too, although I think she'll be doing more crying as time passes. None of the men really made much impression on me. I didn't think much of the one who left, and that "Poet" - well, he'd be my first vote off! I didn't like the brash one at first, but I liked his comment re Lisa so he can stay for now ;-). I'm glad I watched. I'll be taping it and Amazing Race tonight as it's the start of Enterprise on UPN... |
Sassyangiee | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 04:45 pm lmao... well i dont know what i though i read MsS on your comment about "boot off ability" ... i wont even say what i thought that said but i definatly had to do a double take... |
Oregonfire | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 04:57 pm Although I didn't see the show last night (was watching Frazier), I went to the Love Cruise website and checked out the guys' bios and video clips. I know I'm gonna regret saying this, but I like...Ralph, the opinionated bond trader! He's also the one who said he likes to ask women "Where this is going" after 15 minutes. Do I have a serious problem? No wonder I'm alone. I thought some of the other guys were cute and/or nice, but most didn't really seem my type. |
Sherbear | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 05:02 pm I was surprised I liked this show. We taped it and watched it tonight. My husband even admited liking it. He was laughing at me for wanting to watch it. |
Madelane | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 05:44 pm Sad to say, I know Gina. What was weird for me was that I liked her much better on the show than in person. She used to know me well and would always pretend to forget my name. She was a nightmare to go out with, and once said something very hateful about me. But! She was cracking me up on the show! I might have said the same things about Toni before I got to know her. Just not on national television. I'm horrified by giant fake breasts, but that doesn't mean I'm not going to like things about the person once I meet her and I would regret if she knew I was making fun of her. It would have been nice to have Gina on the show longer considering she's the only person I know and that makes it way more interesting. The drawback was having all my friends call me at the commercials to "discuss" when I was trying to flip to Frasier. |
Ocean_Islands | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 05:48 pm The very name of this show ensures I will never watch it. |
Ketchuplover | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 08:48 pm Did you watch THE LOVE BOAT? |
Misslibra | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 11:24 pm I like this show better then Temptation Island because they get to vote each other off, and everyone is single. I'm also a Ralph fan Oregonfire, I don't know it's just something about him I like, I wonder who he will end up hooking up with. Toni, is ok she is just loud and yes likes attention, and I agree with what somthing someone else said, she showed a part of herself that I like... trying to make Lisa feel better about herself, and reaching out and giving Gina a hug even though Gina had been talking about her. I was surprised about Laura, the girl who was with Anthony getting voted off, but she left with the guy she like, or I should say they liked each other, so that worked out well. We see the tension already happening between I can't remember her name and I'm not sure if she is black, but her and the black guy do not like each other at all. Some stuff is going to go down between those two. I think that is the same girl that Toni is going to get into it with. And the dance contest was great. |
Sunshinemiss | Wednesday, September 26, 2001 - 11:34 pm Sleaze;, but entertaining sleaze. Darin is a babe.. Kinda sweet that Tony went with whats-her-name.. I don't think much of the editing on this show, though- after 2 episodes there are several players that haven't gotten any coverage at all.. even if some are more entertaining than others, it would be nice to get a more even sense of who everybody is. JMHO. |
Mindyrama | Thursday, September 27, 2001 - 07:02 am I agree with that, it seems so far that the people getting booted off are the stars of the show that night, or least have been in the first two espisodes. Still don't mind Toni, and was glad to see Laura go. Her head was just a little too big and she loved herself a bit too much, and I think she assumed all the guys loved her too, so she was safe...Guess not!!! Although, I didn't like that Anthony was behind it, I mean PSYCHO!! It's game, they've only been there like what 3-4 days??? And he's already hurt and betrayed and trying to keep Laura to himself?? Get over it! He needs to go. Luckily for Laura he didn't get the boot last night, or else she'd be stuck with him. Ya know, if I were Toni, I'd be sooo mad that they used that horrible bug-eyed clip for the shows opener, that's awful. |
Rachelinsc | Thursday, September 27, 2001 - 09:12 am Mindyrama, I thought Anthony was crazy too. He said the thing with Laura messed him up bad (after 3 days?). What a strange guy. I think it is hilarious for him to still be on the boat thinking about Laura and Tony together in Aruba. I still love the show. I am starting to like Toni better too. I also like Adrian and Tomika. They sure can dance. |
Duke | Thursday, September 27, 2001 - 09:36 am From BB2 to Love Cruise. And then Temptation Island starts soon too. Gotta love it. My first impression of LC was this is going to be good. A bunch of young good looking people to have a good time. I like it better than temptation Island because they are a little more cut loose, and not worried what their significant other is doing. I was disappointed that one of the girls (Melissa I think) has a boyfriend. Why did she come on this show then. I'm glad Laura is with Tony. I think they will click in Aruba well. I taped the first episode and watched it last night from 8-9 and then 9-10 watched the second episode. My hubby came to bed around 9:30 and could not get to sleep because he got hooked into watching the show. When it was over, he said "your show looks pretty good this time." I am a big reality TV buff and love this stuff. I have been on two cruises already, going on my third in April, and can sympothize with Gina. I had to wear the pressure bands the second time, because during my first cruise I took dramamine and it made me very tired. It can be rough on a boat if you get seasick, so I am happy that she is on land again. This next cruise I go on I am going to get the pressure point things for behind the ear. That way nobody can see them. I can wait to see what other kinds of couple competitions they are going to have. In general I LOVE THIS SHOW. |
Rachelinsc | Thursday, September 27, 2001 - 10:03 am I also thought it was weird that Melissa has a boyfriend. She has gotten very little on-air time, and maybe that's why. I am a little surprised that Fox did not warn the CG (cruise guests) about the possibility of seasickness so they could be prepared (with a patch). What if they ALL had gotten sick. I have been on cruises where my husband and I were the only ones not throwing up off the side. We don't get seasick, thank goodness. |
