THIS JUST IN… …From CBS Entertainment "BIG BROTHER 10" TO BRING BACK " AMERICA 'S PLAYER" Viewers To Vote For The Houseguest Who Will Be Offered The Chance To Do America 's Bidding For One Week And Win Up To $20,000 July 29, 2008 – BIG BROTHER 10 will bring back the popular America 's Player segment that debuted in "Big Brother 8," in which viewers will have the opportunity to vote to decide which current Houseguest will be given the chance to be the new America 's Player on Tuesday, July 29 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT). The Houseguest with the most votes will be offered the chance to become America 's Player for one week. If they accept, they will do America 's bidding and will have the opportunity to win a total of $20,000. They will be asked to make moves that are both personal and strategic, from getting certain Houseguests nominated for eviction to convincing their fellow Houseguests to vote for who America wants out of the house. Most importantly, they can never tell anyone in the house that they are working on behalf of viewers and they need to be careful… because, just like their fellow Houseguests, they can be voted out at any time. Viewers will be able to vote on cbs.com or via text messaging from their mobile phone. Sorry, no link ... it was a press release ...

I would hope nobody votes for Jessie .... would not want him to get an extra $20,000.... besides America would really mess with him. LoL

I'm not happy about it. I think America will vote for the AP to put Libra, Jerry, or Renny up because the majority don't watch the feeds.

I want Renny to be America's player..If she does something kooky it would be expected. I also think she is very well liked and therefore the fans wouldn't want to sabotage her. They would give her tasks that wouldn't harm her. She is already aligned with the majority of the house and personally I don't think most viewers like Libra less than MMJA..

Also if there is to be a hinky vote, they would never suspect her.

After seeing how America's player was used to benefit other players rather than the actual America's player himself last time, I don't like this at all. I thought it would be like America's Choice. Just give them some rewards and stuff, and let other HGs know how much they are loved.

I know a lot of people who do not read bb sites or belong to any of these sites, they only watch the show....they LOVE Renny and can't stand Jessie or Michelle.

To me, that was the whole point of America's player...To do the public's bidding, not what's best for the player him/herself. That's the whole challenge of thing.

Zgoodgirl, I feel the exact same way. America's Player was BB's way of the game going in the direction they wanted it to go. I don't believe for a minute a lot of those votes that Eric was told to make was "America's choice". It was Big Brother's choice because they got the ending they wanted with the Father/Daughter final 2. So if you ask me using one of the HGs as the America's player is ruining the game, and if they thought they were losing viewers after season 8.....this just might be their last season. The true fans of this show don't want to see a game that looks rigged. I know I don't.

Ugh! I like Renny and agree that she will probably get picked. I just don't want the HGs to hold it against her, you know, like the mustard or something like that.

It depends on what they're asked to do. Renny if it's fun stuff...Libra/Jessie/April/Keesha if it's stuff that can backfire on the person.

Plus, it's only for 1 week, not the whole season. If the public hates the idea, they won't have to tolerate it for too long.

I'm sorta of evilly looking forward to, say, April getting AC then Libra will be jealous; or Libra getting it & April will be sick with envy; or Keesha getting chosen, then April & Libra will be jealous. Or the hateful things said if Memphis gets it. Or the rationalization if one of the "oldies" is selected. What will they say is Father Dan is the chosen one? Ahhhh, good times.

Carochar, the press release says they can "never" tell they were chosen as AP...so any jealousy about it could only come finale night and post season.

Well, so much for "going back to their roots" as Ms Chen said they were going to do this season. America's Player was great in theory, but all it did in season 8 was screw up the game, mess up votes and alliances and turn all the strategy into a random crap shoot. If this AP is about doing silly things to confuse the other HGs (like changing the time on the clock or hiding the beer or toilet paper) it could be hysterical. However, if it's going to be about telling the AP for whom they must vote, it will totally change the momentum of the game. I don't like it. I was happy seeing them just playing basic BB for a change. The HGs have been pretty entertaining all on their own this year. JMO

For just one week, I think Renny could pull this off and without it hurting her overall game. SHe could have the chance to earn the extra $20k, and if any of the tasks were truly against what she would tend to want to do herself, she could easily chalk it up to having forgotten to take her meds that day, or just testing another hg to see what they'd say..of all the hgs, folks wouldn't be as surprised if something out of left field originated from Renny, LOL!

Earthmother, I pretty much only watch the show and I am exactly like your friends, I love Renny and can't stand Jes and Michelle. I didn't start out loving Renny, but I like her more and more every show! I think BB did get the finale they wanted with the father/daughter, but Eric knew what he had signed up for and got paid very well for it. Yes, maybe it cost him, he didn't win. The thing is, no matter how much we may feel BB rigged it in some way to get what they wanted, the house guests are the ones that kept Dani and ED in the house, not BB, not Eric, not us. Any hg that doesn't target couples is not playing the game very well, imo. (Why they aren't breaking up Ollie and April is beyond me...) This AP is good news to me! I am looking forward to it!

When I first read the title I thought, "Oh no!" I did not like having America's Player at all during S8. In a way, I felt like that changed the whole tone of the concept of BB. With the way that season was I couldn't help but be a suspicious as to whether it was really America calling the shots or the producer further moving along storylines. But after reading on, I see it's only for one week. That's not too bad I guess. The article said AP was a very popular feature with viewers. I guess I must have been in the minority there.

I think it sucks. Someones game could get screwed up because of one week. If they have to vote against their aliance or try to talk them into putting up someone they would not normaly target. I thought this season was about letting them play the game.

Why oh why do they have to mess with the show this way??? Do they have nothing to do? I am not voting for anyone, I was looking forward to having a 'clean' game with minimal producer interference. The last "America's player' was not entertaining to watch at all. And it makes me think my vote won't really mean anything, AG has her favorites, I'm sure, and no matter how we vote, her pick will be AP. Blech!
