Well, The math tells me that maybe if we boycott housecalls for a while cbs might change the policy. I don't watch it anymore because it's old news. I think it's more that they are afraid that if people know things about the live feeds they would be infringing on real networks selling the feeds or showtime. Who knows what the reason really is. BTW, I think it might just be convieniet to blame it on some silly poll.

Gretchen just listened and responded.

Bunky said he was going to get down on one knee and propose to Steve after he saw his initial pre-show interview, sweet gay CB and all. Now he heard/read that Steve has referred to Libra as that colored girl, and said stuff about (pp) Didn't that black guy got voted to be president? ... Now Bunky doesn't like him any more, even though he's still wearing a cowboy outfit sort of in honor of Steve in the first place ...

If I recall correctly, during BB6 Housecalls had a good mix of discussion about the show and the feeds. Because Marcellas kept up with the feeds as well as the chatter on several BB boards, he was able to keep the discussion relevant to current house happenings.

Housecalls started to be spoiler free during BB7 when Bunky became Gretchen's cohost. I guess it became a necessity in order for the cohosts to do their job without looking completely clueless if a caller wanted to discuss the feeds.

Naja - Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. If I remember correctly, they actually shut the poll down before many on the west coast had a chance to vote. There was a lot of fuss over it. I think you can read some about it on House Call's YouTube channel if you go back a ways in the comments.

Hamsterlady, maybe we mean a different poll. The one I meant was the last poll of the season on the CBS site on the House Calls page along the right. I don't think any of us even ended up discussing it since housecalls was basically over for the season anyway. It was up for at least a few days because I would go once a day and vote to keep the old time slot.

Both ladies not liking Brian's guns-blazing style.

Sheila said he lost her since he messed with Jerry. Personally, I thought Libra & Ollie should be responsible for messing Jerry up.

Haha! She is talking about Jessie flexing muscles(by his boob) at the table right before nom.
...

Gretchen said their rating/viewership has increased hugely in Mid. West since the time change ... Oh well, this is the time to stay now.

Sheila thinks she's a pioneer for woman especially for "single mom's". She's taking all the credit for Remmy and Jerry being on the show. Who does that??? ;)

LOL Gretchen said that about the midwest because she thought the caller said Chi town rocks as in Chicago when the caller really said Chilltown rocks!

Lucy, Dr. Will has some sort of competition where callers have to call in and mention chilltown, someone called in on Monday and Dani hung up on them.

I figured there was something going on with why so many are mentioning Chilltown. I was just cracking up that Gretchen thought the caller was talking about Chicago and said she used to live there lol.

Wait. I thought Dr. Will was done with BB. Didn't he say he was moving on to bigger and better things unrelated to reality television? Guess it didn't work out for him.

I know that Steven has made some less that PC comments since he entered the house but I don’t think that makes him racist.

Steven grew up in rural Louisiana an area not exactly know to be PC or Black friendly.

Steven has made some stupid comments but he has not acted like he is disgusted about being in the house with 2 black people. I would expect a true racist to refuse to eat at the table with them or use the same bathroom.
I think the Steven is a racist thing has gone a little far.

I'm in the Midwest and it's harder to watch/listen to the show now in the new timeslot. Before, I could watch/listen during my lunch break, at 2:00 CST I'm busy back at work and can't tune in. I don't care for the new timeslot at all.

Plus, I'm not receiving CBS due to a contract issue with Dish Network and my local station and I can't pick up the station with rabbit ears, etc so all in all this season of BB is a bust for me. I think it's a clue for me to stop watching/caring all together.

Bunky (and the media) may be applying their own experience to Steven and his comment about Libra.
Referring to a black person as "colored" may not be PC, but in the deep South, it's not uncommon...especially in the more rural areas.
I know that for most of the rest of the country it's considered derogatory, but it doesn't seem to be taken quite that way in the more rural areas of the South (based upon my own personal experiences at having heard it used. Being from "the North" it certainly threw me the first times I heard it used down there.)
Steven said it so quickly and matter of factly and without any visible malice that I think it's just a colloquialism.
Here in the Detroit are, the term is typically "black" not "African American," even among people who happen to be black. AA is more commonly used in "formal" use while common day to day conversations usually "black" or among the older generations "black folk" are more commonly used.
An ex girlfriend (who was mixed race) HATED the term African American. As she put it, she was born here, not in Africa, and a white South African who became an American citizen could be an "African American." She said she was an American who happens to be black. That's pretty much how I look at it too.
So, I think Steven's use of the word could be more of a localism than racism. I'm sure if he is racist that having 2 people who are black, an Asian, and a Hispanic in the house with him will draw it out at some point. As yet, I haven't seen it.
So, I'll give Steven the benefit of the doubt...for now.
Now, if he had said "Negroe," well then there might really be an issue.
